Actually I was wondering what would be best, between a nice SSD or a RAID0. The g74 does support it, at least the A1 because it is sold already in raid 0.
Does anyone have a SSD on his g74 ? was it hard to get the OS on the ssd ? does it really boost performances ?

EDIT : What would you guys think of a Velociraptor, as a second HDD ? 10000 tours/min, seems to rock pretty bad. And for 221€ you got 600 Go, and it still has a nice speed and everything, might be even easier to use ! You don't even have to take care of not rewriting to much on it, at the contrary to the SSD ! But I'mnot sure it will fit.

If you want to go Higher, go get Nvidia Inspector, and Select Unlock Max at Perfomance 2 Profile

Since when does the G74SX support RAID?

The HM65 chipset in the G74SX does not support hardware RAID. The PM65 chipset does.

Better switch to the topic i created " Battlefield 3 Tweaks " to answer.

There's a console command ( blablaDirectX11 Enable : 1 or 0 ) , but i never feel like it changes anything. We should have something like 20FPS boost by disable DX11 and the game should be way more ulgy , and it's not the case.

Maybe that command didn't work , or i didn't get the difference as my game is already on low settings.

I wouldn't think it would change anything to disable DX11 as there is almost no tesselation in the game. Don't really know what is so DX11 about it. Still a great game through.

Whats a good program to use for overclocking?

EDIT: I went to guru and got EVGA percision after i posted this comment. Loving it. The tool was so intuitive and informative that I managed to get the GPU going at 877/1754/1442 and not pass 62C playing Skyrim and Shogun 2 for extended periods. Being such a noob tho, I dare not go much further than this! Gained a satisfying 300p in 3Dmark11.

EDIT2: Tried 905/1810/1500 and it topped out at 71C after 20min of furmark extreme burn.

Nvidia inspector is really cool , didn't save your overclock after each restart like Evga Precision , but it allows you easily to create desktop icons for several overclock speed.

For ex , i have one for " mid " overclock for games that need a bit more power , i have to do nothing for games like LoL on wich stock values are ok , and one for super overclock for BF and Crysis.

Ill check out this Nvidia inspector tool. Question though, why do you use different levels of OC for different games? Does maintaining a higher OC have long term effects on the GPU even if temperatures are maintained at a safe level?

Overclocking is pushing hardware to it's physical limits , so , according they are " more demanding " and " more hot " , i may think that overclock will " wear and tear " my GPU faster.

I may be wrong , but as i have thoses shortcuts ready , why would i let my GPU and the whole laptop goes hot where it can stays cool ?

People will say that no , overclock won't break anything , but i'm sure that an overclocked card will last more than a stock values one.
