Re: g53sw is really better then g53sx?
It has been confirmed both Asus and retailers. 64-bit memory controllers? How exactly would that help?

Re: g53sw is really better then g53sx?
What?! I have been waiting for the SX and you guys are saying the SW thats out already AND cheaper is better? IS it only better because of the overclock feature? Doesn't the SX have bigger HDD as well as more ram? plus naked eye 3D!

Re: g53sw is really better then g53sx?
Yep, SW is better because of the faster 192bit GPU.
Naked eye 3D is not available yet and will not be available in the US, according to the retailers. No word about future availability.Asus G73SW 3D | 17" 1080p 120Hz Matte | 2630QM | GTX 460M 1.5GB | 8GB DDR3 | 750+750 GB 7200rpm | Blu-ray

Re: g53sw is really better then g53sx?
I confirmed with NCIX here in Canada, and also called Asus directly and spoke to a techy there; they both said the SX has naked eye 3D
Take a look at the features/product description

Re: g53sw is really better then g53sx?
I dont think the one that is sold from Ncix is Naked Eye 3d, because it's the 1080p that they are selling, where the naked eye res is only 768p
anyway, for me, i would go for the SX
because, 1st, the difference between the 460 192bit and 560 128bit is not by any means HUGE
i will go for the SX because you can do Dual HDD, which is a plus for me for installing an additional SSD, it will compensate for the fps loss, and you can even go for Raid 0, more awesome!
and also, you get 12gb ram from the SX, now i know for gaming, 12 is an overkill, even 8 is in overkill, but it is also good if you would do something that requires that ram power in the future, like Video editing or if you are a crazy multi tasker ( like myself, i can open around 5 Adobe software at 1 time, although i am doing it on my 2010 MBA, and i know if i have 12 gigs, it would handle it better ), more is always better in my Dictionary
but yeah that's me, if you do care about the gaming more, then sure, go for the G53SW
----edit----
anyway, speaking of which, i am interested to know, other than the GPU ( which is won by the G53SW )
what other new feature is on the SX that the SW doesn't have?
like perhaps newer cooling system? new Mother Board?Last edited by Twe Foju; 24th September 2011 at 03:43 AM.

Re: g53sw is really better then g53sx?
It will definitely last 2-3 years and play all games. However, it may not be able to play games at the max settings, of course.

Right now you can see FPS on current games here: Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards - Notebookcheck.net Tech
More than likely it'll be able to keep up with newer games when drivers come out, but it may not be able to go much more than "high" settings.J.P. Flaherty

Asus G-series are good laptops for their price.
If you want something more powerful and with a good price/performance ratio, then look at Sager.Asus G73SW 3D | 17" 1080p 120Hz Matte | 2630QM | GTX 460M 1.5GB | 8GB DDR3 | 750+750 GB 7200rpm | Blu-ray
