video bios Asus G73jw - maximum overclock GTX460m
Hello Friends, I apologize if I'm inflicting any rule, is the first time I open a topic here.
I am here to find out why some users get the overclocking GTX460m stable at 850MHz, and others (like me) can not stay stable Above 805Mhz GPU.
Using AIDA64 Extreme, I noticed that the secret may lie in the voltage of the GPU. Let me explain ...
The maximum 3D GPU voltage is 0.912 Volts
however, I noticed that when you start the test with Furmark The voltage on the GPU was at 0.962 VOLTS, then after a few seconds the voltage fell to 0.912 Volts.
My Current Clock is 800Mhz and is stable!
By using 850Mhz clock is stable only for a few seconds, after which the video card restarts.
I concluded that the GPU at 850Mhz restart when the core voltage drops from 0.962 volts to 0.912 Volts.
Now comes the question.
Because some users can stay stable at 850MHz on the GPU?
Answer:
My theory is that there are difference in the Video BIOS.
I think in some form, who can stay with 850Mhz clock in the GPU voltage is not below 0.962 Volts. That makes him Stable
After researching, I saw that our VIDEO BIOS has two versions.
Version 70.06.0c.00.05, and Versions for 70.06.0c.00.08
My VBIOS is 70.06.0c.00.08
Would the people who stay with the Stable at 850MHz GPU uses the VBIOS Version 70.06.0c.00.05 ?
Anyway, if anyone here is using GTX460m Stable at 850MHz. Save the VBIOS and Post here to be able to Download.
I think this is the Secret. to save your VBIOS, use NVFLASH.
I am sending in Annex screen shots that show the difference in the voltage.
Thanks for the Warning! I really want to be stable at 850MHz.

Re: video bios Asus G73jw - maximum overclock GTX460m
I'm pretty sure it's not because of the vbios but because of the die... if you're lucky you can overclock the card higher, if not... bad luck. The chips are designed to work stable at their default clocks. Everything else can be seen as a "bonus".
Higher voltage can ideed lead to better overclockability, but I really doubt that there are two vbios around with different voltage settings.Alienware M15x | 920xm | 680mAMD 7970m in Alienware M15x

I do not know!
I can only make sure, after I use the VBIOS for somebody who can run the Stable Furmark to 850Mhz.
Thanks for the Warning!

Re: video bios Asus G73jw - maximum overclock GTX460m
Guess there is 3 different vbios'. Here is a SS of my GPUz, I can run stable at 850mhz, though I havent done extensive testing on it.

Here's my vbios as well,

800 -> 850 OC yields P2133 -> P2244 3dmark11 score on G73SW. Nice find.
I have the 70.06.25.00.07 vBIOS.

Thank you for your attention! Information is Appearing =)
But I can not use your VBIOS,
NiBtor informs the Red Light.
You could extract it using the NVFLASH? is very simple!
I think this is the BIOS that allows G73JW Staying at 850Mhz Stable!
You're an Expert User. =).

G53JW here with 70.06.0E.00.12 doesn't like 850.

Re: video bios Asus G73jw - maximum overclock GTX460m
Hello everyone!
I tried to use the VBIOS G73SW, I had no success
the VBIOS g73sW worked, But still I can not stay stable in Clock Greater than 800MHz.
ie, the voltage still too low to sustain higher than 800mhz Clocks.
I changed my tactics. The knack is to arrange one way to use a modified VBIOS.
Today I remembered that the GTS450 Video card, uses the same GPU (GF106)
So I took a VBIOS Original GTS450.
I changed the ID to Be theoretically compatible with ASUS GTX460m.
I changed the voltage and clock to get the level of our Video Card.
After you modify and save the VBIOS using NiBtor
NiBtor. Informs that a VBIOS Validates. (light green).
Not yet tested the VBIOS, in my GTX460m.
Now I need someone with knowledge VBIOS check and tell me if everything is ok.
I am offering it for Dowbload.
remember to have a backup of your bioses in a PenDivre.
V-BIOS MOD DOWNLOAD
attention, this is a VBIOS Desktop.
No one has guaranteed it works in GTX460m
Zippyshare.com - BIOSMOD.rom
Today I tested, not worked = (
one thing I forgot to mention ...
the tension has 3D in 0.982 Volts
That is, in theory, if Running in GTX460m, we passed the mark of 880MHz in our video cardLast edited by maykon_helver; 4th June 2011 at 09:24 PM. Reason: updating information
