AI RECOVERY doesnt detect my recovery disk
Sorry forum I started the original thread here, and I had to make a new thread since the problem has changed.
Missing recovery disk
Ugly news, Asus store has informed me that they've ordered the recovery
disks. However, I picked my laptop and tried to install windows on it. During
the process I was asked to choose the partition I want to format when
suddenly THe RECOVERY PARTITION APPEARED. I quickly installed windows
and then installed the AI recovery program. It asked me to bring 5 blank
DVD and the process had completed. I then restarted the computer and then
changed the boot sequence to the DVD reader, AND THEN THIS ERROR
appeared WInload.exe is missing ???. I tried to make another Copy of
recovery dvds but the AI recovery cant read the partition disk !!!???? . I
then formatted my windows and tried again but the same error keeps
appearing.
Ahhh, Im too old for such errors.
thanx forum.
IF anybody has G53 XT1 please help.

Re: AI RECOVERY doesnt detect my recovery disk
Please correct me If I am wrong, you have win 7 and it will not boot to windows if you boot from the hard drive.,
FIRST Do you have a second computer that you can boot up and look at the recovery DVD's just to be sure they are good?
If you boot from recovery DVD you get the error correct?
What happens if you use F9 after power on?

Re: AI RECOVERY doesnt detect my recovery disk
AI Recovery works terribly. It never worked for me. I would just install windows 7 and then install your drivers. This will work much better overall, nothings runs as good as a fresh install. If you want a backup, use Windows 7 backup or Acronis.

Re: AI RECOVERY doesnt detect my recovery disk
Great Advice man, That is the first thing I did with mine- Remove the 19 gig recovery partition, and clone the HD to an external HD, then I tested the image to verify that it worked B4 I needed it. W/O Chastity's driver reference it will not be easy, but certainly doable with drivers from ASUS's site.

Re: AI RECOVERY doesnt detect my recovery disk
@JOSEA
I will definitely try this, but Im afraid the same would occur to the DVD, the
error message of winload.exe.
Thanx a lot forum for helping me .

Re: AI RECOVERY doesnt detect my recovery disk
Note, the advise (2 posts above) I gave was a random thought, it should work for an out of box computer. So the first DVD can be read with windows explorer, but booting from it does not work, nor does an F9 startup... Whew. The only other thing I can think if is to follow ValkerieFire's advice, load the drivers individually. If you need links to get them let us know.
Have you already paid for the recovery disks from ASUS? If it was me I would cancel that order, there are excellent guides in this forum for clean installs of win 7.Last edited by JOSEA; 8th April 2011 at 12:20 PM. Reason: updated

Re: AI RECOVERY doesnt detect my recovery disk
I would just grab a Genuine copy of Win 7 Home Prem and install and use the OEM key on the back of the G73. You will have to call Microsoft to get it activated, but it's a lot better than trying to figure out why the recovery disks aren't working. You also don't get the bloatware. Just remember to install the latest drivers found on Chastity's thread.
