Indeed... It's pretty annoying, but I can control them manually until I find a solution.

I think the GPU fan on the Asus is controled By the laptop bios and not the Vbios.
That is why you have those problem with the fans.

Would have been nice to know if the HD 6970M upgrade would work. Maybe a local HD 6970M owner could hook up with a G73JH owner for testing purposes?

I believe that was done with a JW and not a JH. Someone already stated that a Geforce GTX 460M did not work in a JH, so there's obviously a difference between the two systems.

A quick look at your recent posts in these forums makes it quite obvious that you're a troll, so there's no point in arguing with you about this matter. However, I think I will be "wishful" awaiting someone to test it out for a fact, but most likely I'll be upgrading to an Alienware M18x at some point, so more or less I'm mostly interested in seeing what people are capable of achieving.

And so what? What makes you think for even a ms that it will be different with a JH. This is a company that won't even fix the vBios for the 5870M. This is a company that ensured unless you are using an Asus 5870M in a JH, it won't work, MSI/Clevo/Alienware 5870M won't work. This is a company that wants you to buy the next G74 with 560M, and yet you think they will allow you to use a 6970M that's better than what they offer?

TBH I think the whining about the 6970M are pretty dumb when you are talking about a company that doesn't even want to fix the current system to work correctly. And why anyone thinks they will provide a fix so you can use unsupported GPU in their models is really beyond my understanding.

So unless you know how to modify the Bios yourself to support the 6970M don't even bother complaining about it. It's not going to do any good. And wishful thinking the same. Seriously, anyone who wants to talk about the 6970M IMO better be able to know how to modify the bios, if not, it's just useless talk.

Firstly this attitude is not wanted or appreciated here, this forum is for people wanting to learn and share ideas and advice, the admins here will only put up with so much - see my public profile and that red dot with an infraction that was me with your attitude when I first came here.

There is a good chance that the 6970M will not work in any G73 model but that does not prevent the want of trying, without trial and error we would be nowhere in this life or this forum because it would be such a massive victory for people that have the G73 model and want to keep it and extend the life of it. Without people daring to do these things my JH would be back in the stone age they put their laptops and cards at risk doing this.

Actually no. All the fixes for the G73jh came from Asus not from the trial and error from the community. The GSOD issue was fixed with a vBios that fixed that massive issue from Asus. The keyboard issue resolved with updated ATK package and Bios 213. Same for touchpad, but not resolved 100% it would seem for all, possibly a hardware issue. The problem with the F11 key, again a Bios issue Asus fixed. Problems with installing AMD drivers resolved with vBios from Asus.

Other than repasting the thermals, which a lot of enthusiasts do anyways regardless of what notebook they have, I can't think of any that was resolved with trial and error from the community.

And if the community did the trial and error with the 6970M, Asus won't provide the fix or workaround as they have above.

I don't think it's an attitude problem or a troll problem pointing out, this talk of 6970M in a JH is nothing more than wishful thinking unless you actually know how to program a vBios and Bios.

I can list you several posts from people with fixes provided by this forum for the G73 their help and advice has helped me without doubt to get my G73 running perfectly and for that I thank them. I can reel off names of the people that have provided advice that has led to these fixes being implemented properly if you wish, your argument is non existent.
