Re: g72gx CPU upgrade
I have the Best buy version of this laptop, and too found out the hard way that a Q9000 CPU will not post in this laptop. is there a different motherboard ,or BIOS that the A1 version uses to accept a quad? any kind of BIOS mod that u can flash to accept it? I have the quad sitting on my desk and really like to use it. I figured maybe there was 2 different motherboard revisions between the A1 and the best buy version. Any help appreciated, thank you.

Re: g72gx CPU upgrade
As far as I know (IMO) the issue every1 has with the difference between the t9900 and the x9100 is kind of mute since the q9000 is 45watt and is stock in the quad version with looks like same heat sink setup as the dual. I have three G71gx and one G72gx laptop and with good thermal paste they run rather cool I use throttlestop to undervolt and they keep on average about 40-45 deg C at idle and max at about 60. This is with either the dual or quad setup. But personally I have not upgraded the cpu. I just feel that the 10watt difference really wont matter with this laptops cooling ability since IMO the most heat comes from the gtx 260m video
And if your into overclocking the x9100 is a much better choice!! (IMO)
