Power4Gear High Performance Turbo Mode
I've had my Asus G51jx for about 2 months now and I still don't completely understand what the Turbo setting under the power4gear controller is.
There are 3 settings:
Off, Turbo, and Extreme Turbo
From what I know about the i7 processor, I assumed this option allows me to tell the i7's turbo boost how much I'll let it turbo boost?
I had assumed it was:
Off being stay at 1.6 ghz
Turbo maybe allowing it to bump up to 2.2ghz
and Extreme Turbo maxing out at 2.8ghz?
But I don't think that's the case since I have the Intel Turbo Boost monitor and my i7 has been turbo boosting itself even with the Power4Gear turbo setting at off.
Thanks for any clarification on this,

Re: Power4Gear High Performance Turbo Mode
From my knowledge of this program with my version of power4gear and the turbo mode even when it is off it can still overclock by using the 13x th multiplier.
For instance:
My T9300 is 2.5ghz 800FSB 6mb cache.
At Off it runs at 2.5ghz but sometimes overclocks to 2.7ghz using the 13th multiplier.
At Turbo it idles at 2.7 12x and overclocks to 2.9ghz 13x
At Extreme is idles at 2.9 12x and overclocks to 3.1ghz 13x

Re: Power4Gear High Performance Turbo Mode
That's the idea that I'm getting too. It seems like the processor turbo boosts regardless of what setting the asus power4gear is set at.
However, in your case Dallers, it seems like the setting affects where the processor idles. For my asus, it still idles at 1.6ghz no matter what setting I choose.Asus G51JX-X5

Re: Power4Gear High Performance Turbo Mode
The turbo mode in power4gear adjust the FSB speed. The turbo-boost in intel processor adjust the multiplier of the processor. Both can work concurrently.
