Big problem with my Asus G73H

A few days ago, it seems my processor under went a mysterious performance loss. I first noticed it in the Witcher, a game notorious for its processor dependency. I confirmed my suspicions with the use of the Dolphin Wii emulator, which depends almost entirely on processor power. I suspect that for some reason my processor is no longer boosting speed when cores are idle for some reason. The gadget that monitored processor speed has mysteriously disappeared. Any way I can fix this? Any other problems that might be the reason?

Reinstall your drivers and uninstall Asus Power4Gear. Still problems, then call Asus.

Tried redownloading the Turboboost driver from the Asus site and installing it, the Setup program tells me that me computer doesn't meet the requirements.

Edit: Hmm, it seems that the driver CD tells me that the Turboboost driver is still installed. Curiouser and curiouser.

Go to intel.com There is newer version of the INF for the HM55 Chipset and a newer version for the Turbo Boost monitor.

If you go to driverstation, can find an updated Management Engine Components drivers.

I'm running Bios 206 and updated all my drivers from Realtek, Intel and ATi.

And I've uninstalled every single Asus software except for the ATK drivers.

Try run OCCT while having CPUz open to check for clock speeds.

This is way worse than I thought. I tried doing a system restore to a few days ago. After my computer (slowly) loaded, the screen was black. Thinking my computer had froze, I rebooted. It turned out that my screen is now totally black, with a little lone mouse arrow. I can even ctrl-alt-del and it will show a normal screen for that. Instant I would go to desktop, nothing. What do I do now?

Edit: Okay, successfully launched safe mode, got the system restore undone. Still, what the hell was that?

Edit: Umm. Weird. The processor seems to be working at full speed now.

I don't understand how that is going to help the other person, considering the G73 should work find with the supplied versions.

More specifically updating AMT isn't even needed outside of a corporate system environment. The exception to this is to remove a yellow exclamation mark from a nearly useless device for personal use in Device Manager and that can be accomplish with the original AMT drivers. And, I certainly wouldn't suggest to someone to update the BIOS, especially when there is zero information about the new BIOS.

Updating the BIOS, even certain drivers, because a new one happens to exist, can be disastrous. This is especially true when there is no definitive statement that replacing all of these would solve his problem, otherwise it's guesswork.

I believe a better solution is to suggest reinstalling the same versions that they other person already used when his G73 worked. Seeing as how the G73 is relatively new, those would more than likely be the stock drivers from the Driver and Utility disc that are known to work, rather than guessing. I would save experimentation for after the G73 is working again as it appears he already has enough on his plate.

That's my opinion, I could be wrong, but ultimately it's up to him to decide.

i would do a clean install and then download all the drivers from Asus site and install them one by one..

contol/alt/delete and click performaane then advance- click cpu and check to see if any of your cores are being parked. if so run a google search on core parking and it will address the problem and correct the power settings in the registry.

If you read his edits you would know that his problem is no longer occuring...Nevertheless, I guess it could be useful info for some.
