Re: Complete Walk-through For Doing A Clean Windows 7 Install
As far as I know there's only one install package for all versions. You'll get the version your key is for.

Re: Complete Walk-through For Doing A Clean Windows 7 Install
OK, there is a LOT of information between this post and the G73JW owners lounge to try and process in a very short period of time so I apologize if I missed this but I promise I've read almost everything posted but it's a blur.
I got mine on Monday, had the correct Windows 7 ISO downloaded and ready to go, put my new SSD in, set it up, installed of the iso disc and am up and running flawlessly.
Only problem is that on the computer information screen it is giving me an invalid key notice with a days countdown. Can I call in to validate since the hardware changed? How do I fix this?
Thanks ahead of time!

Re: Complete Walk-through For Doing A Clean Windows 7 Install
Assuming you still have your original windows install on your original HDD, you can use this program (http://directedge.us/content/abr-bet...ows-7-support), which is linked in the first post of the LEGAL Windows 7 Download Links (Just like Vista before!!!) thread. Boot your original HDD, backup your registration using ABD. Then save the files to USB key. Reinstall your ssd, then retore your activation with the files you saved on the USB key. That will activate windows for you. Or you can call Microsoft and activate via phone.

Kalim doesn't respond here anymore.
All you need is to download a Win 7 ISO for Home Premium, or an Universal, and install using the key off the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. You can find the Universal disc image on my Resource link below. Download both part 1 and 2, extract the .iso and burn to a dvd blank.

Re: Complete Walk-through For Doing A Clean Windows 7 Install
wow thanks for the VERY FAST REPLY...
another question what about what kalim said
"This is a complete walk-through for doing a clean Windows 7 install. This information is based on the ASUS G73JH-X1 laptop which includes one "Windows 7 Recovery Media for Windows 7 Products" and one "Driver & Utility Ver 1.0" disc. For the purpose of this guide they will be referred to as the "Recovery" and "Driver and Utility" discs, respectively. Your setup and needs might be slightly different than mine, so these are only suggestions. It is strongly recommended that you read this in it's entirety before proceeding.
"
i cannot really understand this??
or can i just skip this and go directly to "The Choice"(<-- the first one in the table of contents)

Re: Complete Walk-through For Doing A Clean Windows 7 Install
You can either:
1) Restore your system to the way it was before using the Recovery Discs you made when you got your system, or from the Recovery partition on your main hdd.
2) Use a standard Win7 Install disc to do a fresh install of the OS, and using the Driver and Application disc to restore any Asus apps you want, and drivers you cannot find updates for online.

Re: Complete Walk-through For Doing A Clean Windows 7 Install
you would still need to update the drivers to get optimal performance and to address issues with games or applications, but yes, restoring to factory defaults will have all the stock drivers in place. You will still need to restore your personal applications and games.
