I was originally trying to swap the 9700 card into a g51 because the 9800 card was failing but it didn't work so I was left with a g51 that has a failing gpu. I did play around with the cards and found that the 260 and the 9800 are interchangeable but the 9700 isn't with either card.

I am currently running the 260 in mine overclocked and I have yet to see over 195 with it stressed, I do have a NZXT cooler though.
    I'm confused. Isn't this thread about putting a 260 into a g50???!?
A few years ago when I told my father about how I'd split up with the girl that I'd been dating, he seriously thought it was because I had too many computers and transmissions taken apart in my bedroom

Out of curiosity does the fan ever slow down on battery power or does it just keep going full on?

I replied to your PM. I don't have the part number any more. Maybe a call to Asus Tech Support? Good luck!

Wait, you went from a 9700gt to a 9800gs and then to a 260gtx? The 9700gt and 9800gs are not interchangeable cuz they have different physical layout right? How did you get it to fit?
We currently don't have a solution for the fan getting stuck on high, It's probably a bios issue that the motherboard cannot properly recognize the 260gtx.
