Re: G51j Blue screen of death problems
In theory yeah but I also had an oldish (last year) HP laptop that ran great with 4GB of random brand RAM, but a certain application crashed it. Changing the RAM (it was a single stick 4GB ram test) to the other slot and the problem was fixed.
Who knows? The good thing for now is that this is the only game I have had problems with, the other games I am currently playing are fine so I am not really that bothered yet heh
I had played before, but never over an hour or so, and during those times I hadn't experienced the BSOD.
After testing the machines, we wanted to play a bit of borderlands on our desktops but I used my laptop so for me it was the first time to get it today.
In single player there are no problems. No other game so far has given me a BSOD and I hope it stays that way! *knocks on wood*

Re: G51j Blue screen of death problems
If it's Win7 memory test at boot and it says there is nothing wrong with your RAM then there is nothing wrong with your RAM. Which isn't to say that Asus didn't muck something up that will cause memory errors anyway...
With that said, I have 8GB of 1333 RAM and have only had blue screens involving netio when I used jumbo frames. This is what mine looks like:
2 x 4GB G.Skill PC3 10600
Intel X25-M 80GB SSD
Clean install of Win7 Ult with Windows Updates drivers for the most part as they are newer, and the ATK drivers from Asus' web site. I'm also using the 195.62 WHQL drivers from Nvidia.
Without jumbo frames it runs great.Last edited by ksj; 17th December 2009 at 12:50 AM. Reason: spellin'

Re: G51j Blue screen of death problems
I’d really like to believe that but if you look at this link
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...tics-tool.html
they clearly say
“QUOTE from the site”
Tip
If you suspect memory issues, then you may also want to consider using and running Memtest86+ at boot. Memtest86+ is a comprehensive stand-alone memory diagnostic program that you boot from at startup to test your RAM. You can download a ISO file to burn to DVD to boot with, or a floppy disk package installable from Windows to a USB flash drive or floppy disk to boot with
So I was just wondering if anyone ran the test with memtest86+.
opps work really delays my responses
, thanx thalanix

Re: G51j Blue screen of death problems
If you want to install another memory tester from a non-MS or OEM site that's up to you. Good luck with that.
With that said, please don't. We have enough machines in the world infected with this that and the other. If the Win7 memory test at boot says your memory is OK, then it is. No question. You're done.
The site you linked to isn't an Msft site, so I have no idea why you would trust anything from it... I guess people can be talked into buying anything...
Edit: for those that do not know how to use the built in memory test:
Restart your computer.
Press F8 frequently during the boot sequence
From the advanced boot options screen press esc
At the Windows Boot Manager screen hit tab to the Tools section then press enter to start the Memory Diagnostics.Last edited by ksj; 17th December 2009 at 01:26 AM.

Re: G51j Blue screen of death problems
ummm memtest86+ is freeware. and I did run Windows memory diagnostic and it returned no errors, but honestly I'm not going to take the word MS gives me hand over fist either.
I know I'm not the only one here doing everything imaginable to try and fix their machine. so if some off the things we're doing starts becoming un-orthodox or odd to some, well that's just the PC world for you. Let’s just hope for all our sakes that someone here or at Asus can figure out what the problem is!Laptop
