another 2 days and no word on the RMA. anyone know anything different from the mid-late january release date for the jx? gonna wait til the 10th and try and negotiate a replacement.

what about the furmark+prime95 cpu locking? that could explain the increase.
What Furmark+Primep5 CPU locking? What is the issue? I can test it with the 150w psu if you want but what is the issue?

    This one I guess...

(and returns to 55 when paused?)

I have no more BSODs after updating Power4Gear.
    Intensive gaming etc.

so how does changing power4gear help with the BSODs? to my understanding, power4gear is a poower management and overclocking utility. if this is the case, wouldn't it mean that the BSOD is a power issue?

I'm also on the latest p4g but I haven't had a bsod since downgrading the bios to 204. It is not conclusive at this point but there is a good probability it is a power management related problem.

The price isn't likely to drop since they have been discontinued and are out of stock everywhere I have seen. There aren't heat issues As far as I know. If u consider the upcoming G51Jx it may be good to wait and see if it has any problems.

The problem with the G51J is up in the air so it is hard to say if staying with ASUS is even a good idea. Time will tell.

I'm going to buy from Newegg, unless i can find one cheaper. The new GTS360m doesn't look too promising, but I'll wait and see if Nvidia was genius or retarded for introducing the GTS360m.

BIOS 204 --> I did have BSODs, only new Power4Gear helped in my case.
Right now it's a like a new device, replacement of the buggy, unreliable etc

Glad to have fix, however my personal rating of ASUS quality dropped forever. What about testing process?
This BSOD 124 bug was so easily reproducible as well as Creative vs. Steam flaw. No excuses for ASUS QA.

I wasted so much time trying to fix the issues myself, cooling laptop down, reinstalling, upgrading, downgrading that I recommend my friends not to buy ASUS anymore.

yep. i learned my lesson from the w90vp. i'm always going to do some hard research before i buy from Asus again. Yes their laptops have Awesome specs at Great prices, but sometimes it comes with a little extra; some bad tech support and unresolved issues.(IMO)
