Re: Grab copper and a drill, now!
Do it on yours, then. I remember you said you had to keep your GPU cool so you can overclock it and not get "10 FPS! 10 FPS!"

Re: Grab copper and a drill, now!
Well its the first benchmark out dx11, with a lot of work into it, might become a good way to compare computers in the future, but might be also the flavor of the month. I still think its a nice benchmark, ill run it tonight when i get home.
Btw i got the tape, so this weekend doing the copper blocks mod, if all goes good, next weekend the hole.MSI GT70-0NE-276US | 17.3" 1920x1080 LED Matte Screen | Intel Core i7-3610QM | nVidia GeForce GTX680m | 16GB DDR3 1600 | 256GB SSD Super-RAID mSATA | Hitachi Travelstar 7K750B | 6X Blu-Ray RW | Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1103

Re: Grab copper and a drill, now!
It's a benchmark, not a stress test tool. A stress test application in CUDA can make a GPU just as hot as DX11 and DX9. As long as it pushes the card 100% with optimal control by the user, it's good in my book.

Re: Grab copper and a drill, now!
lol dam i just read thru this whole thread *facepalms how much (little) life i haz...
sheeba (koreans will know what it means). it seems joker doesnt have specatular gpu temps, IM NOT ALONE praise the lord!!! but i was wondering, why is it that the desktop GTX 285 was brought to its knees while that GTX 260m was @ 79C? i call shenaniganz, ive yet to see another person w/ a G51 run a benchie whether it be fur,3dmark,vantage etc, and have sub-80C load temps on da GPU.
also joker, idk about u but i would be crying if i lost my warranty over such a silly thing as that...dayum. the warranty is the only thing that makes me feel safe and calm when i sleep every nite.Last edited by SACH7002; 26th October 2009 at 11:24 PM.

I don't hit 80C in 3DMark 06.

Re: Grab copper and a drill, now!
My GPU had a boo-boo, so I put band-aids on it.
I also balled up and threw away its old, ugly bandages.
And because of that, it gave me a nice big hug
(69.8F ambient. The maximum reading of 87C is one degree higher than my "usual", but I'm writing that off to freshly-applied paste. I'll do this again in a couple of days.)

Re: Grab copper and a drill, now!
Forge, what thickness are those pads? I'm thinking of ordering some new ones too, but I wasn't sure if I should get 0.5mm or 1mm thickness. So I reapplied MX-3 twice tonight and I've finally got it down. Once you learn how to work with it, it's actually very easy to apply. Max GPU temps @ stock in furmark at 1920x1080p, stress test, 2xaa, post processing = 90C. Max temps w/the same settings @ 550/950/1375 = 93C (3C drop over my previous best temps). Copper blocks should hopefully put me in the below 90 range at max clocks and settings in furmark.
I was thinking of ordering these replacement thermal pads for the ram: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/94...mm_x_05mm.htmlAMD 7970M Xfire vs. 680M SLI Review | All Powerful Alienware Steam Group | 680M SLI + BF3 Video

The pads he showed me were 1mm thick.
