Re: Grab copper and a drill, now!
In my book, when a machine is hardware modded to a point where a substantial amount of effort and ingenuity has been put in to make it unique compared to the rest, it is given the "X" suffix to the name. For example, once kaltmond completes his cooling overhaul on his M860TU, it would be dubbed the M860TUX or M860TU-X depending on his preference. Once your G51 mod is complete, it will also be worthy of candidacy for the X badge by a counsel of current X users. We are a small yet elite group of users that defy our warranties and undertake a great amount of risk to take our notebooks to the next level, a level that defines the secret group.

Re: Grab copper and a drill, now!
How drastic of an overhaul is deemed an X? I'll be attempting the following:
1. Speaker replacements (originals will be kept for warranty)
2. Low profile fan via Y splitter + copper blocks
3. Dremeling of the new panel to open up the fake filter and replacing it with a real fan grill + filter
4. Possible bios flash to 1v and higher clocks depending on how temps improve.
That's as far as I'll take it for now since I don't want to void the warranty unless I find some additional tweaks I can do.Last edited by 5150Joker; 24th September 2009 at 06:36 PM.
