ASUS G71GX BIOS 1201 Update

No i decided to upgrade a little to what i had originally had planned .

Its in my sig .

I know this will be a great machine though but after the W90 fiasco then the G71 having an issue i just wasnt prepared to deal with Asus this round ,i still think and know its a great machine so i hope everyone is happy with there purchase. Cant wait to see some benchmarks etc .

I hoped those instructions worked out for those that needed them since i had flashed that old bios to the G71 the first day i had gotten it and knew the procedure .

Has anyone done a 3DMark test rather than a futmark test after the BIOS 1201 update?

I got 10,074 on 3DMark06 using stock drivers, 10.6kish using DOX 185.85
Both times the gpu temp didn't go above 82C though, had to OC the CPU to 10% in order to get 89C on the GPU temp.

Has anyone seen this update yet VIA the Asus update utility? I am assuming this is something that would be sent through there eventually?

ASUS Live Update is buggy and useless... please uninstall it, check the support site regularly if you want to get updates.

I'd imagine it gets hot, all gaming laptops do my old E1705 with an X1400 got hot after playing a while..

Just purchase a laptop cooler..I played COH for a few hours straight and then restarted to see the temp... it wasn't over 60 C

I didn't know what I was missing until I played games with this new rig...MAss Effect-flawless.. COX plays fantastic!


Note: after checkings boards the asus update software gave me 1102 or something to that effect BIOS update... I'm going to try the avenues offered in this thread later tonight

Ya, you are right...

I guess what I mean is does the g71 get as hot as the g51? What are the temps after the bios update? Do they get in the upper 90's like the g51?
