G50V - Anyone find a use for the OLED display?
It was cute at first to have my name on it but now I've disabled Direct Console because I don't use Windows Mail, Windows Messenger, or any of those things. CPU Load is nice but I'd really like to take more advantage of this eye candy, it's one of the nicer things about the laptop.
I use AIM, wish it would work with that. I also use GMail not windows mail, wish it would work with that. What can you do though.
I'm very curious to what creative ways people are using the display though, I'm sure there's people more creative than I who have figured it out
Thanks,
Matt

I've already suggested this a couple of times, you might try to collaborate with Predator MF to get LCDHype working with G50. Or if you feel up to it, you can try it without his help.

Re: G50V - Anyone find a use for the OLED display?
I already tried to work with him some, first thing he wanted was the res of the oled screen and I have no way to find out. My best idea was to take a macro photo with my camera while having as much text in there as possible but it still did not work out well.
Now that I know its a USB device and I know its vid & pid, if I can just figure out how to tie that into lcdhype I can probably start some guess work for resolution and all that. Once I have that going Predator can pretty easily take over.

You would think asus would want to release spec sheets for the OLED for their laptops to the public. Theirs nothing but benefit and usability that can come from it.

Hey all
When I play Phantasy Star Universe on my G50 it affects the OLED - completely filling it so the whole thing is lit up.
I could try to take a macro pic if anyone is interested.
