hi joystik,

it's a miniPCI-express card that you need to install it to your laptop, so it's not exactly plug-and-play as you think. whether it'll work on dv2000t, that i'm not too sure because i know some HP and IBM laptops will have their BIOS unlocked for security reason. However, if you search around, you'll find a patch that will help you unlock the BIOS. As to MACBOOK, i really have no clue at all.

I would really be interested in buying this if I could see some benchmarks showing that the AR5006XS is superior to the IPW 2200 in some way.

Not exactly what you want. But I had an Intel ABG 3945 card and I just swapped in a Atheros based Lenovo ABGN card and I got some numbers with Netstumbler.

With the Intel I had around ~ -33 to -36dbi with a poor rating throughout the majourity of my house.

With my Atheros I get around ~ -46dbi at the same location with an Excellent rating all the way to my backyard which is about 150ft to my router(drops to about 30dbi when I'm outside).

I used to be able to see my AP and 2 other with the Intel but with the Atheros I can see my AP and 4 others.

Considering 3dbi to be a doubling in power. I get more than a 4x in reception.
I had an old Asus with the IPW2200 and I upgraded to an Atheros and saw a similar boost.
