Hello everyone!
I am selling my Compal CL56. It was purchased from Hypersonic a year and a half ago as a CX5. The condition of this unit is fair. There are scratches on the cover. The power adapter does not always make good contact and needs to be played around with at times. HOWEVER, all other hardware is in perfect condition. There are no dead pixels and the machine is running as smooth as silk. (Edit: A thin horizontal line has developed on the bottom of the screen. Honestly though, the line doesn't bother me, I barely notice it now.) This is a good deal whether you are looking for a well-performing laptop on the cheap, or simply looking to strip it down to its parts.
Hardware is as follows:
1.8GHz Intel® Pentium-M 745 Processor w/ 2MB Cache (Dothan)
512MB PC2700 333MHz DDR RAM SODIMM
512MB PC2700 333MHz DDR RAM SODIMM
40GB 7200rpm Ultra ATA Hard Drive w/8MB Cache
4X DVD +/- R/W Drive w/ DVD Recording Software for CX5
ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 (M11) 128MB for CX5 (w/ TV Out)
Guaranteed No Dead or Partially-Lit Pixels
Integrated V.92 56K Fax/Data Modem
Integrated 100MBit Fast Ethernet Controller
Aviator CX5-11 Laptop (Metallic Navy)
15.1" SXGA+ High Contrast Active Matrix LCD Display (1400x1050)
Internal 802.11b+g 54Mbps Wireless Mini PCI for CX5
Please be aware that the total RAM on this unit is 1GB, broken into two individual sticks at 512MB each. I did this when I ordered the unit for extra reliability (if one stick fails, you can still run on the other stick).
Also, please be aware that I do not "tickle my elmo" -- that means no dried remnants of suspect fluids on this keyboard!
If you have any other questions, you are welcome to fire me a PM.
I do have extensive feedback on other forums, so please don't allow my newly minted membership here on Notebook Review to hinder any interest. I know it can be scary entering into a transaction with someone you haven't seen face to face -- rest assured, I will cross mountains and rivers to make sure you are comfortable with the security of this sale.

Simply contact me over PM if you are interested, I will refer you to the feedback thread I have on another forum (if you register there, I can PM you on that website so you can be sure it is me). We can also work out other methods of identity verification (e.g. phone call, etc).
I am also willing to entertain requests for PARTS. Of course, ideally, I'd rather sell the laptop as a unit.
Asking price:
$400 plus shipping!
Payment methods accepted: PayPal is preferred. If you are using your credit card, if I remember correctly, there is a 3% fee involved. I will also accept more esoteric forms of payment e.g. check, money order, electronic wire, etc.
