Default IBM VS. ACER 3000

Someone, Anyone, Help!!

I have been going crazy figuring out which laptop I need. Here's what I wrote under another topic in reply to someone else.

"What I need it for is basically business. I will be using the internet regularily. However, while working I need to have other programs up and running. I am not going to use the system for games. Maybe a little, but not much at all.

Do you know much about the Acer notebooks? Are they reliable, esp. down the road?

To make my head spin even further, my brother said that I should get an IBM since he thinks they are the most reliable long term. What do you think about IBM R40 vs. the Acer 3000? I know I get more package for my money with Acer, but it seems IBM has better endurance. What do you think?? I'm going crazy!!"

You do seem to be going a bit crazy, are you in a bit of a rush???
You seem to be a little stuck with the ACER. That is its the one notebook you seem to be comparing with another. I would personly go for the ACER over IBM.
My reasons are that the ACER looks different, & the 3000 is a great notebook.
In reply to M3post in the Sony forum (http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=928),...your right... I think that the ACER screen is great. Is the sony better? I dont know, I have seen a sony Xbrite and was impressed, that the limit of my knowledge, thus its pretty much worthless info.

ACER have a pretty good rep for making quality products. They like dell etc have an extended warrenty option. It will cost you a bit but if require backup then the extended warrenty should provide you with enough cover.

However, IMB makes good notebooks too, an if your main use is for business then this would probably suit you better.

Underpantman,

I almost didn't see your post - I didn't expect you to reply here. [:0]

Now that I know what you think of the Ferrari's screen, I'm not surprised at all that you think it looks great. It's a great machine and it definitely makes a hell of a statement.

BTW, when I see your user name, I think of Spongebob Squarepants. []

[B)]Thanks guys for all your replies. Yeah, I was in a bit of a hurry to get a laptop. But, as you can see I'm not a computer buff, and this would be my first laptop.

The reason I bought it, however, is that I started getting really interested in tablet pcs. So, on one website I typed in tablet and it gave me the 3000 and the 300. The tablets right now, however, seem to be a bit slow for what I need, not to mention quite spendy right now for what you get. So, when I saw the 3000 at the same price as the 300, plus it had more and better specs (not to mention it looks sweeeet!), I decided to get it.

Then a couple hours after I purchased the 3000 it clicked into my extremely slow 1 Mhz processor mind that it was a regular notebook! Yeah, go ahead, laugh! Well, I did get a three year warranty with the Acer and seems like many say it is a good quality machine, so I guess I'll stick with my decision.

UNLESS, SOMEONE THINKS I SHOULD DEFINITELY GO WITH IBM. [B)]
