I have an IBM ThinkPad X21 (P3 700MHz, 256Mb RAM, 20Gb HD) which I got used on eBay for around $250. Upping the price to around $400 you can find that and slightly better. Try looking up eBay, but beware of scams.

I have not found one, I've had the Dell Latitude for a while now.

It weighs 6 lbs with the secondary battery, which is a bit too heavy for me to carry to class everday with all my books and papers.
