Default New Advice Now!!

Ok a guy is willing to trade laptop for desktop.
The laptop is the following with
HP Pavilion Dv2000
AMD TL-50
1 GB of RAm
WD 5400 120GB
Nvidia Go 6150
Glossy 1200x800

NOTE*** This is not for me but for my friend she has desktop with

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
2GB DDR500 OCZ RAM
74GB Raptor WD
Nvidia 7300GT
DFI DR SLI motheboard
Clear Case with UV lights
500 Watt

She plays alot of 2d games. But i know she wants to play other games like Fear and oblivion.
Can she run thoses games???
Even on low as long as she can play.

The desktop is more capable than the laptop. Being in a rush is fine, nearly indecipherable language is not.

I'd keep the desktop. Upgrade the GPU or something. If I have enough money, upgrade the motherboard and CPU with a Wolfdate E8400, or even a E6600.

the desktop has a better graphics card than the notebook

but both have very weak gpu and will run fear and oblivion only at the lowest setting to get playable fps

neither game will be playable on the laptop, even at lowest settings/resolution. They will be very tough to play on the desktop. She should upgrade her video card in the desktop to at least a 7900gs/8600gt (they can be had for $70ish), and maybe even upgrade her cpu to a x2 3600 or higher (not necessary, but recommended).

It honestly looks like a trade where you will get 1/2 of what you traded away. A mobile processor versus desktop, 1GB vs. 2GB, a GPU that is not upgradeable (and will NOT play Oblivion well at ALL) for a desktop GPU that can be upgraded to a decent level.

I think that guy is more focused on ripping you off.
