WTB:2.5'' Hard drive 160<
Looking to upgrade my 120gb. Looking for 250-320gb range
I don't know which speed hard drive to buy. what is the difference between hard drives that spin 5400 rpm and 7200rpm? is access to data faster? does it reduce noise coming out of your notebook? increase battery life?
I just don't get why there's such a marginal difference in price when it comes to speed.
Anyway. Looking to buy hard drives over 160gb. Paypal verified. I prefer sending payments to verified paypal recipients.
Thanks.

The 7200RPM drives are bit faster, but the newer 5400RPM drives offer good performance. If you need a lot of space and money is short, that's probably the way to go.

5400 >Batterylife than 7200rpm
7200 >performance than 5400
PS. you don't want a 4200rpm, they are horrible... SLOW

a larger 5400RPM drive would probably be around the same as a smaller 7200RPM harddrive in terms of performane. for instance, a 160GB 5400RPM would probably be close to my 80GB 7200RPM drive

The external wd 250gb at bestbuy for $100 seems a decent deal.It was a 5400rpm swd scorpio, right now its 209 online, but was lower instore.wd 320gb was (till yday) $150 at amazon, now its$179,so keep looking for these two.Same wd 160gb at office depot for $89.(5400)
