It is used, but in perfect working condition—I'm preparing for graduate school and need the money (and don't need the distraction).
The battery has not been affected by Dell's recalls!
This lappy has been great—never let me down and still retains its charge perfectly!
Its specs are as follows:
* Intel Pentium M @ 1.7GHz
* Enhanced capacity 8-cell Lithium-Ion battery
* 1GB DDR-300 RAM (this was a personal upgrade and still leaves 1
emptymemory slot)
* 40GB Hitachi hard drive
* NEC 8x DVD±R/W internal DVD burner
* Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG WiFi adapter
* Billionton PCMCIA Bluetooth adapter (personal upgrade)
* Wireless bluetooth mouse
* Still covered by Dell Premier tech support until November, 2009 (will
perform on-site service if needed)
Before shipping the laptop I will:
1. Completely erase the hard drive (via Darik's Boot And Nuke)
2. Reinstall
Windows XP (Dell copy)
3. Install the latest drivers for each hardware component, and
4. Perform Windows Update to ensure you are running the latest version of
all system software
This system also comes with an integrated SD memory card reader and an S-Video output port.
This laptop's power-to-size ratio is a huge plus—it's so small and light you can take it with you everywhere!
Dell installation and resource CDs are included.

As an update to those bidding and watching:
I have successfully performed: (1x) Gutmann Wipe and (3x) 35 round PRNG wipes using DBAN. Reinstallation of Windows XP Professional is complete along with driver installation and updates. All settings have been left to system defaults, however I downloaded Windows Update and performed a thorough update (with the exception of Windows Media Player updates which you may perform at your discretion).
The computer is ready to go!
Upon auction close, please send me your full name and address so that I may transfer the Dell title to you. Please also include a primary username for the system so that I may change this before packing it up for you.
