specs in sig had laptop for one month want to switch to sager np5791 with 7950GTX. will trade for a 5791 + cash difference if anyone has one.

i wanted to change to a 5791 but my 2090 shipped before i had a chance to make the change.

Is the 7950 better than the 8600m?
I thought having directx 10 capabilities would be nice?

The 7950 is more powerful in terms of raw gaming power; DX10 really isn't being implemented in a wide scale on computer games yet, and it also requires Vista, which is pretty lame. I personally wouldn't be jumping through hoops for DX10; DX9 is going to stay for a while until DX10 becomes more widespread (this is hindered in the fact that you require Vista and new hardware for DX10).

If you want pure gaming power, go for the 7950; Bioshock looks fantastic even in DX9 mode, so don't worry.
