Default Selling Dell Inspiron 8600 - anyone interested?

Hello,
I bought an Inspiron 8600 a few months back as something to get me by till more companies integrated the newer PCI-Express stuff and finally offered a package I wanted. (17" wuxga, high end graphics card, preferably Pentium-M). The 8600 came closest at the time.

Dell came alone and made the 9300 and I jumped on it. Now that I've got my 9300, I want to sell me 8600.

I'm curious of the interest in this computer. Anybody interested?

Specs:
15.4" wuxga screen
1.6ghz Pentium-M
512mb ram
ATI 9600 Pro Turbo video card
Hitachi 60gig 7200rpm hard drive
Modular floppy drive(swap with CD-Rom)
Wireless & Bluetooth
Leather Case

It's been a good notebook for me. It's still in what I'd describe as "like new" condition. There's no noticable wear and tear, basically new without the new notebook smell. There are no flaws or defects of any kind. The Leather case is in a near new condition, however it has some slight scratches on the front latch buckle. I have all the CDs that came with it, not the original box though.

I'm not sure what software I'd send with it, maybe just reinstall the Home XP that came with it, installed with all the latest drivers. Basically, it will be a fresh install or as it came from Dell without the additional advertising bundled with it. I'd also put on my standard security setup as well, AVG anti-virus and Microsoft's anti-spyware(was using Spybot but am really liking Microsoft's one, maybe just install both).

I'd put a bunch of games on it and XP Pro and Office and stuff, but...that's not quite legal, lol.

I also though about upgrading it some too, 2.0ghz processor, 1gig of ram, but I never really found the need as I expected. If these are a concern to you, I could purchase and install a faster cpu and more ram. It will of course add to the price I'm asking.

I do play most current games: C&C Generals Zero Hour, Warcraft 3, Half-Life 2 & Counter Strike Source, Need For Speed Underground 2, and others. The 9600 video card does plenty well and allows for max or near max graphics settings for most of the games. Half-Life 2 and CS:Source was the only one that really required me to lower settings some and put the resolution down a notch. Everything else I play is run at full res and full graphics settings(no anti-aliasing in Windows-ATI cards don't do well with AA...and not really needed at 1600x1200 anyways).

The final factor is always price. For this I'm not completely sure. It's a $2000 setup(if configured on Dell's site). I payed $1400 with my $750 rebate at the time(after taxes). I'd like to get $1400 from it as I do feel it's worth that price, i.e. I'd still pay $1400 for it.

Anyways, let me know if you're interested.

Replyby, e-mail(AOL mvw2, mvw2@aol.com), PM me, whatever.

Feel free to reply to this post about offers, inquiries, questions, or whatever. I'm looking to put it up on Ebay as well if no one here seems to be interested in it. I would still be looking for a similar price, so no deals by waiting[]

p.s.
I'll get some pics up later. Ask if you want any specific shots.

More people would probably be interested if the price was lower. Last month, one could configure the 8600 (with ATI PT9600) for less than a thousand dollars. A price such as $1200 might be more reasonable. For example, a few threads below this one, someone is selling a 9200 with a 9700 video card for only $1100.

Hmm, I priced it something like 3 weeks ago(just before the 9300 that I got came out), and it still came out to $2000(a hair over) with no rebates. There was a $500 rebate available at that time and brought it down to a little over $1600. I'm not sure how it was available below $1000, maybe with nothing on it.

Mine does have the high res wuxga screen, the 7200rpm hard drive, floppy drive, and leather case. Sub $1000, not sure how that's possible other than essentially a base model, albeit the 9600 graphics card, and some good rebates($750, 35% off or similar).

I personally do still think it's work $1400, but I will listen to any offers.

It'll be up on Ebay this weekend. I just wanted to ask here first as I've grown fond of this place for the half year I've been here.
