FS: MacBook Pro 2 GHz Core Duo [$1600] [Like New]
Price: $1600
Payment: PayPal, check/money order (must clear before shipping)
Shipping: USPS Priority Mail w/insurance
eBay: mjacob0427
Up for sale is a like-new MacBook Pro. Everything works perfectly. There are no scratches or marks of any kind on the machine (I'm a neat freak and I clean it regularly). It's mostly been used while plugged in, so the remaining battery capacity is far greater than that of most used laptops.
This laptop really is in mint condition, and I've got the original box, all manuals, DVDs, receipt, etc. to prove it. Original price was $2499 + tax. Specs are below.
- 2 GHz Intel Core Duo
- 1 GB DDR2 memory (667 MHz)
- 100 GB SATA hard drive (5400 rpm)
- 15" display at 1440 x 900 (not glossy)
- SuperDrive (writes CDs and DVDs +/- RW)
- 256 MB ATI Radeon X1600
- Bluetooth, FireWire, USB 2.0, etc.
- OS X Tiger 10.4
- Original box, manuals, DVDs, and receipt
- Vertical sleeve case by WaterField Designs (paid $45)
- Apple USB keyboard (paid $29 + tax)
Apple is selling this model refurbished for $1550 + tax + shipping, and they're going on eBay for more than $1600 + shipping. Also consider that refurbished models were once broken, and who knows what you're getting when you buy on eBay?
I'll also throw in the Apple USB keyboard if you want it. I used it for a couple weeks and then put it back in the box. Email/PM me with any questions.

Sorry, no trades. I ordered a ThinkPad T60 from Lenovo and it's already on its way.

Hey guys,
I'm trying to gauge my pricing on this baby. Do you think $1600 is fair for the condition/specs of this machine? Original price was $2499, and the warranty is good until May 13, 2007.
Also, just an FYI: If you're local (Tucson or even Phoenix), you can take this laptop away for $1550 cash. PayPal fees would be about $50 for me, and shipping would be about $20-30 for you, so there's an incentive for meeting me in person.

I think your pricing is very fair (it's smart to look at Apple's refurbished pricing and eBay pricing, as that does give you at least some indication of what people are paying for these notebooks). As far as buying Apple Refurbished, people would also have to keep in mind they'd still have to probably tack sales tax on top of it, making your deal even better.
One thing to note just for any future Apple Refurbished buyers though; not all machines sold as Refurbished were specifically broken. Some of them were just returned for one reason or other (i.e. customer just didn't like it, etc.). Some are actually returns where there was nothing wrong at all, but some component or piece was missing from the box so it was returned). Just figured I'd mention that if you do think about buying someting in the future refurbished.

That's true. However, I heard from a friend who used to work at an Apple Store that units with isolated or hard-to-diagnose problems are resold as refurbished. I don't know how true that is, but that's what I heard.
At any rate, I've been using this machine for 8 months, and I can tell you that I haven't experienced any problems whatsoever. It was brand-new when I bought it.

That is very untrue. Apple fixes the problems with the refurbished machines. And also your macbook pro sells for 1400 at the refurb store. But then there is also tax. But your macbook is very nice and is going for a good price. You should have no trouble selling it.

eBay has many scams currently {Buyer & seller}, but even the new machines have 200-300 range for a batch of sales from authorized Apple dealers.(Been watching close last 10 days!)
btw, New machines are coming w/ 150 rebate, & an almost free backpack/carry case.
