i had a sony 160 with a glossy screen and just got the new mbp core 2 with the matte and in the end i find the matte better. first it is easily as bright as the sony and the shiny screens show off all kinds of dirt smudges etc. i actually find i can use the mac at a much lower backlight level then the 160. i'm sure it is all personal

The glossy screen on the MBP is easily usable on the lowest brightnes setting (one box in the brightness setting). I often use it with the lowest brightness, then forget that it's low and get surprsied by how bright i is when i put it at the highest level.

Yeah, it does show SOME smudges more than a matte screen. But that just comse down to keeping a screen clean.

I'm saving up for a MBP and I'm pulling my hair deciding between mate or glossy. I will be playing games with bootcamp so which of the two screens would be better?

well i finally go the glossy, and so far no regrets. After years of using matte lcd monitor, i think glossy is far better. Hardly notice any reflections at all.

Wish I had money for the MPB but I wouldn't mind either. I'd just place a BestSkinsEver full body skin over it and it'd look 'glossy' :-P
