Man this blows. I knew there would be an update but this kills me. I got my Pro a little over a month ago, and now they do this. Well time to get to work with Craigslist and see what I can do about upgrading.
Macbook Pro 15.4" 2.4Ghz 1066Mhz FSB
4GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB, GeForce 9400m + 9600M GT GDDR3, and soon to be a 320 WD 7200 RPM HDD

Re: New MacBook's 13, 15, 17 inch
Yeah the exchange will be well worth the $150 if thats what they end up doing (worst case scenario).
And about the crane comment...I bought an alienware laptop 2 years ago for school...might as well have been a desktop.
edit: Rob above has the m9750 alienware too
....and the battery upgrade alone is worth all this hassle.

Re: New MacBook's 13, 15, 17 inch
While still not quite 'perfect', the new models are certainly an improvement. I would like to have seen an esata port (even one combined with a USB) and an express card slot on all models. Having an SD card slot is super ridiculously long overdue. I don't mean to get flamed, but can't apple just include all the various display connections instead of paying more for adapters? It seems that Apple is at the forefront in just about everything in terms of laptop design and configuration, such a pity it takes them so long to get their port options only half right. Least I mention...still no blu-ray option...option!
Other than that its a great refresh and the now 13 inch macbook pro is where it should always have been...in the pro line.

Re: New MacBook's 13, 15, 17 inch
Well it would be nice if they offered all the ports and blu ray options ect. But they still are amazing.....at least coming from Alienware (I'm an alienware fanboy but I hate them so much which doesnt make sense). Seems like apple support is so nice and os x works so much better than windows.....its like going from riding a bicycle to getting upgraded to getting limo service.
Right when I bought my AW they dropped in price almost $300, I could have taken a restocking fee and rebought the laptop and saved about $100. Took hours of arguing with a barely understandable tech guy to get the money back.

If you like limos which you have to keep taking in for service, sure.
Definitely hanging onto my existing 13/15's. ~5.5 hour real-life power-saving runtime - extrapolating my experience vs the '5 hour wireless productivity' with the Crapbook Air - is not worth a non-removable battery. I can get that on a stock Sony Z with the small battery.| Tablets: Quite a lot | Notebooks: A lot | Desktops: A lot more | Servers: I think you see the pattern | Laptop Bags: Even more |

Re: New MacBook's 13, 15, 17 inch
Cons of the refreshes overall:
IGP only for low-end Macbook "Pro"
Removal of Express Slot on 15.4"
Marginal, if even worthy at all, bumps to the 17"
Pros:
Insane additions to the 13" Model capabilities overall
Did we really expect any major upgrades? I didn't.
In the words of my Mac-centric bud who has been holding onto his G4 1.67ghz 17" Powerbook forever:
"Waited, followed Macrumours, sighed, confirmed on Apple's site the insignificant upgrades to the 17" promptly ordered an open box 17" 2.93ghz at ~$2500."
I told 'em Apple is going to stick with this design for awhile and I don't see a Quad Core (Even Q9000) in there anytime soon. I told him this in January. The Quads are power hungry and hot. To make matters worse, he upgraded his desktop last year to the DP Xeon based Mac so doing his renders on the laptop were excruciating.
I guess he did save $600-700+ though on the 17", so that's nice.ThermalTake Tai-Chi | i7-3770K @ 4.5Ghz | ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE | AMD Radeon 7970 | G.Skill RipjawX 1866mhz | Win7U | Crucial M4 256GB SSD |Apple 30" ACD
