But I doubt the revision will be much better than the original.

9C8C is a bit better than 9C89 though. Especially the contrast.

I guess we'll have to wait for people with those screens to post some opinions & photos.

Anyway, if I manage to sell my MB, I'm gonna be the guinea pig & try my luck. If I really manage to get a new MB with either the 9CA5 or 9CA8 & it turns out to be quite good as some of the owners had said, then I'm gonna return the Vaio Z that I had just ordered. Wish me luck.

Even if it's going to be a bit better, it's not going to be close to the Z screen I reckon.

Good luck though

Very true & I agree with you on the Vaio Z having a way superior screen, but I think I can probably live with the MB screen if there is an improvement over previous ones. Thanks for the well wishes too & I'll post an update in this thread once I manage to get it.

This is quite an interesting shuffle... sort of like the gamble with the current 20-inch iMacs. There are two panels - a 6-bit bad TN and a 8-bit very good TN...

It's a good step to choose better panels, but not cool towards those that have the models with the worst ones, because Apple's policies do not support returning computers due to panel model.

This is unfortunate but at the same time, almost all the companies are doing this (like using 2 or 3 different screens from different manufacturers & so on). This is why you'll constantly hear/read this "luck of the draw" phrase around the forum.

Yeah, we can only hope to get the better screen. For people buying the MB now, at least there's a high chance of getting the newer & better screen. For those that already have the MB, they're all SOL. I don't mean to rub this in & I feel the pain as well because I bought mine at the end of March that came with the older "crappy" screen. Apparently, these new "improved" screens are available as early as early April.

Needless to say, I'm also SOL & the only way for me to have a chance of getting that screen is to sell my MB (it'll probably also affect the resale value quite a bit) & re-purchase the MB. Another "luck of the draw" game awaits me, I guess.

your post seems to be as pointless if not more, why bother responding to this thread anyways?

back to topic...
since most of my grunt against macbook is the screen, those photos only show the best viewing angle which i have nothing against with; try tilt the screen just a little and it starts to bleed, those photo will make a point if the contrast doesn't go crazy though.
It was a genuine question and although you gave a fair answer there was no reason for you to be rude and arrogant with the part of your post that I highlighted. If you felt the need to post something rude then there was no need for you to respond to my post since it wasn't geared towards you anyway. Interesting how noobs love to create enemies.

The photos in the following link are pissing me off (my 9C89 is exactly like the 3rd photo in the link). However, for anyone interested, the link below shows some photos of the 9CA5 (left) & 9C89 (right):

That's quite a difference in contrast, and how rich the blacks are! I wish they would have had this screen to start off with. Thanks for the links though! BTW, I have the 9C89 also...

Things are just getting better & better. Now there is another new screen that is being used in the Alu MBs. It is 9CA7. More details in the following link:
