for those who looks for the better quality screen when apple doesn't produce a consistent product where some are worse(better) than others? if i can only get a macbook i will darn sure to get one that has marginally better quality as the panel on macbook are really THAT BAD...

your post seems to be as pointless if not more, why bother responding to this thread anyways?

back to topic...
since most of my grunt against macbook is the screen, those photos only show the best viewing angle which i have nothing against with; try tilt the screen just a little and it starts to bleed, those photo will make a point if the contrast doesn't go crazy though.

Unfortunately for me, my screen at its best viewing angle exhibits the light bleed, highlighting its super bad viewing angles. The top & bottom of my screen showing blacks will never be the same, no matter how I tilt it.

Can't really tell from the photos. The photo quality is poor (taken from an iPhone). If I took a photo of my Macbook screen, it would also show consistent black levels like this.

apple fit such a lackluster screen on the macbook, considering its price, one wonder why they do that. the macbook air has such a beautiful screen, so clearly this is a cost cutting issue.

My local Apple store has said they will sell their show models. On the show models it's easy to check what display they have.

Downside of course is that you're getting a used Macbook. Although negotiation on the price should be possible.

Yes on Macrumors there was a guy who was putting a MBA screen in a Macbook. Don't know if he succeeded.

To anyone interested, the 9CA5 screen is a LG-Philips screen:

If that is true than 9CA5 and 9C89 are the same screen...
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=591386

It's not a very good screen.

That is interesting then.

The AUO seems to be different though:

9CA8 - B133EW04 V3
9C8C - B133EW04 V0

It's not a very good screen.
Do you still remember the alphabets/numbers after the model name (highlighted parts):

LG LP133WX2 (TL)(C5)

Those should tell the info about different revisions & such.

These LCD makers are not going to come up with a whole new screen models to replace the current ones but an improved revised version is possible. In this case, for example, if I go to Apple & complain about my crappy 9C89, they'll tell me that it is the same LG-Philips screen that is in use in ALL MBs but is that the case?
