That looks pretty decent for a macbook display. The sad part is that if your lucky you'll get a decent display from the macbook lottery.

At least with sony you will get the same screens (one good thing about sony that makes their own panels I guess). But then no OSX.

No win win situation anywhere! I guess these products tell you that life isnt fair!

Sony don't make their screens for use in the laptops. For the Vaio SZs & I believe the Vaio Zs as well, Sony use screens from Toshiba-Matsushi+a.

One more thing. Sony are also not totally free from defective screens. There is still a slim chance that one may get a screen with those famous "vertical black stripes."

Just so you know, Mac is not a acronym, that means it is Mac not MAC. Also It's OS X not OSX, It is pronounced O-S-10. X is the roman numeral for 10. kthanksbye.

Um, even High quality SIPS and MVA screens are made in China. Infact, most notebook parts are made there which includes Apple. So please refrain from using "POS made in china" comments .

OP (BigZAJ), do you finally manage to find some time to take a few photos of the new screen for us? Thanks in advance.

I've been interested in trying a macbook and the screen was holding me back.
If I order direct from Apple and request the 9ca5 screen, would they help me or not guarantee it?

I doubt Apple entertain such requests. I mean everyone (even I who already had an Alu MB) want a notebook with a top quality screen. If Apple caters to such requests, who is going to buy the "poor" quality ones? You don't expect them to keep them, do you?

Anyway, you can always buy the MB from Apple & if you're not satisfied with the screen, just return it back to them within their return policy time frame. Good luck.

Just curious, why is this thread so important? I'm not knocking the OP but it's not like we can do anything about the screen that our Macbooks ship with and it's not like you can request to have it built with 9Cxxx screen and it's not like you can take it to the Apple Genius and have them switch out the screen for the 9Cxx screen of your choice. I just don't get the point of these threads about which screen you got? How is this helping anyone?
