I`ve been looking for a disk benchmark similar to hdtune without success for OS-X , The closes i got is a program called AJA System Test , link below if interested.

Do you have any others that give access time, I know i can use hdtune in windows but i want to use os x.

Quick question, really not worth a thread.

Will upgrading the ram/hdd in a mbp void the warranty?

The Memory and HDD are user upgradable and will not void you Warranty as long as you damage anything, the user manual shows how to replace both.

haha the funny thing is that i've never benchmarked on os x. i've always benchmarked on windows because i can compare results with fellow windows users. may be an os x enthusiast will be able to help you.

First time Mac owner checking in Long time PC user...the new 13" MBP finally swayed me with its "low" price entry. So far all is good...OSX is fairly easy to pic up once I figured out where a few basics are located.

Once Win7 and Snow Leopard come out I'll probably upgrade to a 500GB HDD and run BootCamp. I will be keeping my Dell XPS M1330 around though as the only real con to the MBP13 is that it doesn't have a true HDMI output (ie: no sound ) and I use my PC as my media center via HDMI.
