Re: Alienware Sales Assistance Thread, Redux
Hello this initiative is great improvement to the norm of try to speak to Dell reps who know little of the Alienware division of Dell and do not provide accurate quotes or information. So this initiative is nice to see. As per experience no one knows Alienware better than those of Dell whom are direct from Alienware.
I have to thank a member who has not included himself in this thread but has aided in Technical aspects of Alienware @NBR. A special thanks to AW-Federico. I truly appreciate your assistance and hope to continue to have a open communication with you in the future. He has assisted in resolution to system issues which extended over a very long period of time on and off of varying issues. Thanks to Federico I have a system that does not have hardware issues and runs as designed. Alienware has been very supportive through all my issues. I have had 3 reps and before that I had spoke to Dell not Alienware. Once I had contact with actual Alienware reps I had outstanding support from that point on. For that I am truly greatful.
AW-Federico futher more is and was able to assist me in an inquiry of parts purchase and again I am truly happy with the chance to have such great help.
Thank you Alienware and thank you reps who have helped me especially the most recent a level 3 tech AW-Federico.
I will be joining in the discussion if possible on improving this thread and Alienwares support through this forum/ hopefully more websites in the future (atleast a gateway elsewhere for those who aren't here to reach out just the same... maybe an email system)Alienware M18x R1|Intel i7 2960XM OEM|Samsung PM830 240Gb|Samsung 8gb 2133 CL9-10-10-25|AMD 7970m Crossfire CCC 12.7 Desktop Beta | MW86@Bios-Mods@Tech|Inferno

It's great to have assistance from Alienware Sales Org individuals in a forum such as this. I have some technical questions before I request a quote for either the M17x or M18x.
Does the M17x (i7-3720QM) support DDL3L type memory (Dual Voltage 1.35/1.5V low voltage)? I realize that the PC has to be compatible to run at 1.35V or else it will run at 5V. I'm assuming that compatibility as indicated on the processor's spec sheet, but I wanted to verify. The i7-3720QM indicates the memory types DDR3/L/-RS 1333/1600. I'm interested in knowing what memory is actually used in the system (no matter what quantity), as well. The lower voltage option is a more expensive option, but is of interest to me.
I also wanted to verify what memory is compatible with the M17x:
204-pin SODIMM
1600MHz DDR3 (PC3-12800)
I'm assuming that the M17x comes with two hard drive bays regardless of whether one or two drives are purchased. In a system such as this it's, important to have the capability of upgrading the system. With that in mind, I have a couple of questions...
Are the hard drives connected to a SATA II or SATA III bus interface? Please indicate if either one of the drives bus interface differs from the other.
-SATA II (3 Gb/s)
-SATA III (6Gb/s)
Is there a constraint for maximum hard drive size for any oneport?
