re: New M17x R4, M14X R2 and M18X R2 are coming - Speculation thread.
Max discount on dell is around 25-30% tops usually...Returns are a pain and they may charge you a re-stocking fee (have to negotiate and they will give you a hard time to change). Also, these new systems won't be out till Apr/May so that's too long to wait for a return. I think a lot of the excitement with the M18x R2 is if they offer a better screen rather than the power of the CPU/GPU.
If folks can afford to wait, always better to wait. IF not, then buy and enjoy now.

This just in regarding the M18x R2!
A source close to Dell has disclosed the graphics options that will be available with Dell's yet to be launched M18x R2 under its Alienware branding. This laptop will sport an 18.4-inch display and feature one of Intel's upcoming Ivy Bridge CPUs. It will be available in either black or red and will come crammed to the hilt with an array of features and optional extras such as Wireless HD (WiHD).
In terms of GPU options, the M18X R2 can be had with dual Radeon HD 7970M's in Crossfire, or if NVIDIA's offerings are preferred, you can opt for two GeForce GTX 675M's (SLI) or the slightly lower spec'd GTX 660M (it is unconfirmed at this time as to whether or not the 660M will be available in an SLI configuration or just as a single card).

M11x-R4 will probably be out in May since that's when the Ivy Bridge dual cores are due to launch.

Details out on Alienware's 2012 notebook range by VR-Zone.com
The 14-inch M14x R2's GPU options remain unclear at this time, but it will apparently offer 1 or 2GB discrete graphics, with the option of saving money and going for integrated graphics.

1 or 2GB is mostly a marketing thing, it doesn't really change real gaming performance.

I'd think he meant more the fact that you can buy an M14x with only integrated graphics. I can't say I entirely see the logic of this. Perhaps with the M11x, considering Ivy's graphics are probably going to be around 60% faster than Sandy's, but for the M14x you have plenty of room for a dedicated card. Not having one would basically give you a bog-standard laptop in an Alienware shell.
