Dell Alienware M18x AMD Radeon HD 6970M IPTV & Gadget Review | U-verse Reviews | day after christmas sales 2010
Sounds bogus but was worth posting.Thanks to the post appeared on Dell-Lab-Posterous.com, run by an engineer of the American multinational, we are aware of a new member of the range Alienware. This model Dell Alienware M18x, a 18.4-inch gaming notebook, on which the first details emerge. Like all Dell machines, including Alienware M18x will be adjustable depending on the user’s needs, which will have more hardware options.
Dell Alienware M18x has a 18.4-inch screen, with Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, WLED technology and treatment TrueLife glossy. Available in classic colors, black and red, the huge gamestation will integrate two graphics cards AMD Radeon HD 6870M (in CrossFireX) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460m two GPUs in SLI configuration. At the moment we do not know why the U.S. has not opted for multination two graphics cards to the latest Nvidia GeForce 500M.
To ensure sufficient autonomy, Dell has decided to integrate a battery of 12 cells and 97WHr, but as the author of the post.Last edited by anexanhume; 13th January 2011 at 03:33 PM.

Re: M18x ? News article looks bogus
It may be credible because this is the same guy that announced the R3 specs way before anyone knew much about it and he was almost spot on. I really hope this turns out to be true and Dell redeems the AW name.

Re: M18x ? News article looks bogus
Wow it would be awesome if AW would release an 18" model :d Ever since I use an external monitor I'm not content with 15-17 inch laptop screens. And with the new technologies one might even dare to hope that a normal person could lift this machine :d

Re: M18x ? News article looks bogus
That is not good news for me. I don't know if I should wait for it or just get the R3.
What is strange is that the dell-postereous site does not say it's a rumor. It says "just announced".M17X R3: 2820QM, ATI 6970M, Intel 510 250Gb, 8Gb HyperX, Blu-Ray

Figured this was what was stuck in Jerry's throat.
Now you just have to wait 6 to 60 months for the launch.

Re: M18x ? News article looks bogus
Its interesting (if this is true) that they would use lower end 6870's and 460m's instead of top end gaming cards. Remember, the 6870 is a 5850 replacement... Even the 6950 (in desktops at least) doesn't beat the 5870...
EDIT: Although, in the title of the article, it says 6970 instead of 6870..Portable { Google Cr-48 Chrome Notebook | Alienware m15x | TI TravelMate 4000E | Toshiba NB305-N310 Netbook }

Re: M18x ? News article looks bogus
Interesting, but for a screen that large that resolution seems a bit low, but I imagine that would be the base spec. Sure hope it's true.... a high end SB with two cards would be a kick-butt rig... and thats a nice battery
