Probably around 12 pounds, just like the R2 or the x7200, x8100 and other similarly sized and spec'ed laptops.

    No rig right now

I would guess a good $5,000 to $6,000 for a top M18x system if I'm in the ball park..... Anyone planning to rob a bank? LMFAO

At some point Alienware is going to mount a monitor to the side of the aurora case and call it "portable workstation". 18 inch notebook? Seriously?

Why not get Samsonite cart and just cart around the Aurora. I think the marketing folks need to take a serious look at their lineup if this is what they are thinking.

Why are you talking as if an 18 inch laptop is something unheard of ?? Toshiba have it with qosmio, Clevo/Sager have it with the x8100, asus have it as well, and you 're here talking about dell as if they were crazy over an inch of extra screen size?? Dude, get your facts straight!
First, for gaming that inch makes a world of difference and trust me once you see how awesome an 18" screen looks you'll understand. Second, the M18x will be thinner than the M17x-R2, and if not lighter it will be of the same weight tops, and it will have more room inside to host more options and a better cooling system.
So can you plz tell me what are you complaining about ?

It may not be any thinner if they're going to SLI nVidia's 100W GPUs.

Funny that engadget has caught the story yet. Maybe they don't believe yet.

I think we can call the M18x confirmed to get released in a few months as multiple sites started talking about it today.

Maybe this is informative? Dell Alienware M18x : Coming soon

Sites are saying the new machine will be expensive, how much the machine will cost is not known as of yet - just like the release date.

So my guess may not be so far off the $5,000 to $6,000. Anymore than that, which may be possible will be very prohibitive to most buyers/gamers, unless your cousins with Trump or some other super rich family. If you want to adopt and you are a billionaire let me know... I need a good home and a new M18x I'll take out the trash and feed the dog.... hahaha, j/k. All good though.
