Default Complete and Utter Breakdown...Anyone else?

    Hello All,

So I wont even begin to mention my whole story, in short I bought a refurbished from Dell R1 with QX9300, SSD, 2x4870, 8gig. From day 1 it didnt work, I spent close to 3 months with Online and over the phone dell techs, 4 on site visits and finally they said they would send me a replacement, they ended up sending me the wrong computer as a replacement 2 times! By the end they said they were not going to send me from the factory what I was promised but would send an onsite tech to install them, then all of a sudden this other guy says that the 820QM is onpar with the QX9300 so there not going to send me the 920XM i was supposed to have...In total it took around 5 months to come to a resoulution where it was only Dhell that walked away thinking they won cause I still feel ripped off.

So here I am gettting back from work, looking forward to play F12010 turn the game on and notice that the system is just slow, the graphics are stuttering, everything just feels a bit off. So I close the game and run my benchmark (3d06) and my score is just over 6000...yeeup 6000 not over 15000 like it usually is, then quite literally after I saw the score I guess the computer was so ashamed it just BSOD, and would not restart(when it restarted it BSOD) so I was able to get into system restore and restored my computer, it booted up normally but again I tried running the bench mark and I could see within the first few seconds something was still wrong.

I thern tried reinstalling the drivers, everytime I did this it BSOD and I couldnt restart...so again system restore..btw this is now about 4 hours of this crap...so I was able again to restore but again noticed that the computer wasnt running properly. Finally another BSOD while doing doing and this time it wouldnt even let me get to restore without either locking up or BSOD...

So I had to completely reformat my computer which seemed to work, now everything is fine.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this before?

Check this out!!! It will help you more than starting a new thread. Plus, once a mod sees this thread, he'll prolly tell you to move over.

Well I am well past the resolution and I have my contacts at Dhell now. My question is around the latter part of my post as I needed to rant a bit. I see in the M17x owners lounge someone else also had the same issue. I want to know if others are having this issue and what their perspective is.

I also own a refurb, but I haven't had any problems (yet). Mine wasn't scratch and dent though; rather ordered but never shipped.

This is by far my favourite laptop I've owned, so perhaps you are just getting strings of lemons.

    Dell...straight from Hell

Well i have had a similar experience as johnsmor, atleast as far as crappy low performance and benchmark scores, around 5k on 3dmark vantage and with stealth on about 1.8k on cpu :/
I haven't tried a clean format but i did try factory restore image and things only got worse then. I don't think i'm too inclined to do a clean format at this stage as i am past AW.
Waiting to see if a return is an option. Too much hassle for my taste for such an expensive machine. endless issues in the last 2 months. Performance and framerates are too low.
