Default Alienware General Information & HOW TO: Search the forum - *READ BEFORE POSTING*

Welcome to the NBR Alienware forum!

Alienware offers high-performance systems for gamers and enthusiasts. As with other forums on NBR, you will find a dedicated and knowledgeable community of Alienware owners here! We enjoy pushing the envelope with our systems and you will come across plenty of performance tips and helpful advice here. If you have an issue with your system, do ask questions! We probably have an answer!

Be sure to check out our userbar selection for your signature line! Thanks to X2P for putting these together for us. Links to wallpaper threads can be found here as well.

    Model Specifc Subforums:
The Alienware forum is divided into a main Alienware discussion area and model specific subforums.

When creating a new thread, if it is model specific, please post to the model subforum. Only general Alienware discussion items should be posted to the main forum.

Special Note to Alienware Legacy system owners - we have a subforum for you as well! Please be sure when posting that you are not posting in the Dell/AW model specific subforum. Thanks to AW, their naming convention for the Dell/AW side can be confusing to new owners. Its important that all Legacy AW posts be made in the Legacy subforum. "Legacy" systems pertain to the systems produced by AW prior to the Dell acquisition. Be aware that the Command Center application for the current Dell/AW line will NOT work with a legacy system. DO NOT attempt to install it.

    NBR General Information:
As with all areas of the NBR forums, please take a moment and review the forum rules as they are strictly enforced. Be sure to review!

If you are a new NBR user and find you are not able to send a PM (Private Message) or create a forum signature, please see: Can't send private messages or create signatures?

NBR's forum guide and general "How-To" is HERE.

    *Important*
While browsing over the Alienware Forums here on NBR, you will come across threads which discuss System BIOS and VBIOS mods. BIOS Modifications, VBIOS Modifications and other system level tweaks can potentially cause damage to your system. Be aware of this before blindly flashing. If you brick your system or cause damage, chances are very high that your warranty will be useless. Know what you are doing, you are responsible for your actions.

Dell Driver Support by System Model
This comes up quite often - many new members will post asking which drivers to install, what the latest drivers are, where to download, etc. Unfortunately, maintaining a thread of current drivers is quite a bit of work. As an alternative, these links will take you to the Dell Support page for each specific model. The most current drivers can be accessed right there. When in doubt, use the NBR forum search function to locate information on a specific item.

    Warranty Support Information

Complete Care (now known as 'Accidental Damage') only covers liquid spills, drops & falls, surges & screen breaks.

Review the actual terms of the agreement, its right there in black and white. Don't expect support to cover a botched thermal compound application...

Service excludes theft, loss, and damage due to fire, flood or other acts of nature, or intentional damage. Customer may be required to return unit to Dell. For complete details, visit Dell Services | Service Contracts | Dell.
Full details on Service Contracts (TOS, Product Warranties, Warranty, etc.) can be found here -

Accidental Damages Coverage doc is here:

Just want to clarify - we have several misconceptions of what this coverage provides floating around here on NBR...

Default Re: Alienware General Information - *READ BEFORE POSTING* - *UPDATED*

Posting this again for another round...

The MOD team will be removing all signatures which do not comply with the Signature Size Limits as posted within the forum rules. If your signature line is outside these limits, please take a moment and fix it.

Removals begin 3/13- fix it now before its removed.

All signatures should not exceed the following size limits:

•For text signatures: 4 lines normal size, 8 lines small size (when viewed in the vBulletin style) and up to 90 chars per line. Font sizes above 2 are not allowed. (Blank lines count as lines.)

•Do not use images with large text to bypass the previous item

•For images in signatures: 1 image up to 350 pixels wide, 125 pixels tall and 25k in size, or 4 "userbars" (350 x 20) stacked together.

•Animated images in sigs are not allowed (incl. userbars)

    •IP trackers are not allowed
Discussions, signatures and avatars supporting candidates, political action/interest group, or controversial topics are not allowed. Political and religious discussion should not take place on this forum.
    Thanks.

EDIT: the Mod Team is still finding many signatures outside of the forum rules signature size limits. If your signature is removed by a forum mod, it will be replaced with the URL to this post. Be sure to fix your signature before its removed.

Default HOW TO: Search the forum

We all know the forum search feature is a bit quirky.

    ---------------------------------------
To search the site via Google, use the following query -

    site:forum.notebookreview.com

add in your search term - example:

    site:forum.notebookreview.com M11x Battery

This query will return only results from the forum which contain M11x Battery.
    Google

    Thanks.
