    Guys,

It is HIGHLY advisable to price your system on the consumer site first if you plan on bargaining with the EPP reps... They're trying some really 'funny business' with the pricing.

The rep I was dealing with built exactly the configuration I did and said that she'd give me a $280 discount. Her price totaled out (with the discount) to $1.95 less than retail!

At that point I sent her a screenshot of the consumer pricing and said that if they want ANY further business from myself or the company I work for she better knock the $280 off the retail price. (I just spend about $500k with Dell annually.)

After 30 minutes she came back and said OK. I then told her that I get an additional 3% for DPA and have a $50 EPP coupon... She then started backpaddling.

I then asked for her supervisor, explained the situation and the ramifications. She gave me the additional off.

I ended up getting a fully loaded M11x for right at $1000.

If you're using EPP really watch these guys... They tried every trick in the book to scam me out of my discount.

Wow... what was the configuration price you had done on the site? A fully maxed M11x including warranty is about $2400. That means your $1000 price is a 58% discount!

    Rambler,

My starting retail total was $2301... My ending total after blowing my top was $1068 (including tax, shipping, etc.).

I also had a VERY long chat this morning with our Dell Enterprise reps about what the EPP folks tried to pull.

The main thing is BE CAREFUL... Know what you're buying, what your discount level 'should' be.

I've been an Alienware owner for years... One of the 'perks' of that was always that as a repeat customer you were entitled to a 10% automatic discount on other Alienware stuff. I stacked that with our corporate EPP, DPA, etc.

Thanks. I didn't know there was an additional 3% discount if you used your DPA, that can come in handy as well.

So... Being a AAA member will get me $100 off, I have a 15% off through a mailed flyer and DPA an additional 3%. Now I'm wondering if I should order through the regular phone number instead of the EPP number, and just tell them I get $100 off for being with AAA? Though I doubt I'd end up being able to get as much of a discount like what you did.

Fight for it! The EPP reps technically have as much flexibility as our corporate reps do... Only difference is they want to be greedy.

You should be able to get your 15%+EPP Percentage+$100 AAA + 3% DPA at a minimum.

When I started the transaction all they knew I had was an EPP discount. After they gave me a total then I brought in the other discounts. Once they tell you one price and you have additional coming off of that it prevents them from manipulating your discount away.

I don't have an EPP to go through, except for the AAA membership and that's a $100 fixed amount off. So I've got that, the DPA 3% and flyer's 15%. I guess anything else over and above that could be considered a bonus. But maybe if I call the EPP number and they try to scam me, then I can start spewing off and demanding additional discounts. LOL

It's a one-time use code that I received from an Alienware flyer in the mail. I'll be glad to post it once I place my order, but the flyer does state it's a one-time use code.
