    e. =\
Be very careful doing this. I actually tried to cancel not because I wanted a further reduction but because I was up all night having major doubts about just dropping over a grand 300 on a laptop. I did some googling for how much Indian based dell reps actially make as a basic wage not counting commission and I found that they get between £1000-2000 per year!!! I was so torn up about the ethics of blowing a YEAR'S wage on a comp that I phoned up the next morning and cancelled!!!

It went through straight away and they didn't offer me anything to keep it!

Then after ANOTHER sleepless night of regret that I'd just lost a great deal which probably won't cone around in the UK for a VERY long time, I contacted my rep to reverse the cancellation! LMAO!! soooo lame I know but I do have guilt about the real cost of these things!
At the moment my status is still in production, fingers crossed it will move on to 'shipped' soon.
Just a warning to those who try and cancel to get a further reduction lol.

Ps sorry spelling and punctuation. Typing on phone

Some of the posters here are getting around $600-700 discounts, I was wondering if i can grab an M15x with the gtx 460m and core i7 740qm @ $1300-1400 range since the G53JW-XN1 with similar cpu/gpu is at $1200

Has anyone tried using Paypal to order and got a good deal? I don't have a CC at the moment (just moved), not sure how you would pay via Paypal over the phone.

Just a quick link to this M15x thread some prospective buyers might find useful, especially European customers:
M15x to the following spec opinions?

I'm almost doubting some of these discounts people are getting. Dell/Alienware are unique in that if someone threatens to cancel, or tries to negotiate a lower deal...there's always another person willing to shell out full price.

It's like the airlines, you may have a free ticket - but that'll also increase your chances of getting bumped. Why? There's always someone who will pay $500 for a ticket.

My second attempt ended up with them just trying to downgrade the processor - bleh.

Hamster, honestly I wouldn't lie about this. The reason I got such a huge reduction primarily is because online was offering a £200+ discount! I then negotiated another chunk off using the OP's advice. I did spend a good amount of time on these forums gathering evidence and courage before going for it. But I am not making this stuff up!

Well, there's also something to be said for the monetary conversion rate - I'm not as familiar with European economics, so a 20% reduction may be commonplace.

For continental US, I'm not used to seeing such voluntary discounts, ever - at least outside of a car sale. The Dell reps I've been stuck with basically say, "If you can't afford the Alienware price, don't buy one." I'm getting most unlucky.

Much lke Baerius stated, you've got to keep trying. The post has been fairly successful for quite a few people , but the thing to remember is most Dell reps won't just say, "Hey sure I'll drop the price for you!" Remember, many of them are working for commission so there is a game of tug-of-war of sorts going on. It definately takes perseverance. Just got to stick with it for a while, and when you get a decent quote, even not so decent, get a quote emailed to you. Then you have a bartering chip.

guys, this is fantastic! first off, thanks for so much time YOU guys put into helping us peeps out. now, i do have a question on being able to knock down a price for this m15x, subtotal online is 1844.00:

SYSTEM COLOR Alienware M15x, Cosmic Black edit
    PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i7 740QM Quad Core Processor, 1.73GHz (2.93GHz Turbo Mode, 6M Cache edit
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English edit
    MEMORY 6GB Memory (1x 2GB, 1x 4GB DDR3) edit
    VIDEO CARD 1.5GB GDDR5 65W NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460M edit
HARD DRIVE 320GB SATAII 7,200RPM edit
LCD PANEL 15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED edit
WIRELESS CARDS Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11AGN Half Mini Card edit
    BATTERY OPTIONS Primary - 6-cell (56Watt) Lithium-Ion Battery edit
INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

basically, think i can get it down do 1300? i dunno! maybe im doubting myself rightnow, maybe i just need some encouragement, but all i want is someone to tell me their opinion if it can be done. also, if someone has a good sales rep, mind giving a email or such? but again thanks ALOT for all of those who contributed.
