in Hybrid power save mode I only get 15,000 spikes with no stutter. Hmm.

*note don't use the same clock frequencies as the ones im using in those pics
just use stock speeds if you're not into overclocking
    Yeah makes sense.

Or, just use the hardware you have and enable Hybrid - Power Save mode.

You should only need SLI when you game. 9400m is fine in windows and does not cause audio stutter.

I am an idiot for not figuring this out earlier.

but it looks like some of you are still hitting roof top spikes, thats the gpu downclocking unfortunately

    examples of stutters
browsing, scrolling through webpages, watching streamed videos,
    viewing pictures, playing videos

you've probably read my previous tips on keeping the gpu running in 3d clocks
but i forgot to include 1 major detail

in order to link the "Nvidia perfer maximum performance" and to keep it that way, is to use a gadget thats always producing a graph, no this wont work with any cpu meter, it must be a graph gadget.

i can assure you 100% sutter free if you follow these steps

    1. Install 195.62 http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

    2. Install Rivatuner http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163

    3. Install GPU Monitor http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDeta...cc4c&bt=1&pl=1

    4. Enable GPU monitoring through Riva

    5. Attached pictures in order
I just tried this, and had a little confusion I'm hoping you could clear up?

    1) If we have Geforce SLI, we simply select one of the cards in that first screen, yes? I set mine to GPU 1\NVIDIA Geforce 260M\Generic PnP Monitor.

2)I could not find a way to bring up the final screen shot (system tweaks), where is this?

    3) Once I've set this up, do I just leave it running and forget about it? Or do I just want to enable this whenever I want my 260's to run at maximum performance?

    Appreciate the help,

with no open programs mine is the same. this is not the problem. try play mp3 and browsing at the same time. leave dcp latency checker open in background and feedback.

    both cards
and if you follow the pics correctly, you dont have to do anything after that
the driver and riva will startup along with windows running in 3d clocks always, unless you remove the GPU sidebar gadget,

just follow the steps carefully, also dont use the same clock frequencies as mine

    oh and system tweaks here

The only "big" spikes (less than 1000 μs)in idle are every 15 sec. Under load when the powermizer downclocks the GPUs the spikes go up to 65K+ and stuttering occurs.

In Hybrid power saver mode the spikes are under both load and idle condition every 15 sec too but less than 1000 μs, no sound stuttering

    The conclusions are yours...

what is the temperature difference with your tweak ? Because heat would be the only thing worrying me for the long run

It's time to start asking for A04 lol

I found the final screen right after I posted

I think I have it all working correctly. After the initial bios update, I was still getting spikes over 16k, but now it's all green!

Do I need to worry about long term wear and tear on my computer by always running in 3d mode? Or is it so minimal that the wear would be negligible?

    Thanks for your help!

    =) don't worry about it

    my temps?

    2d clocks @300mhz idle - 46c fan 88%

    3d clocks @ 687mhz OC'd idle - 49c fan 95% / Load 75C

    Using Rivatuner Profiles

    Low 3d clocks @ 450mhz idle - 47c fan 88%

you should be more worried about your card constantly changing clocks
this issue only applies too certain models

my 9800gt superclocked edition has a bios with 2 performance levels unlike my brothers 260 gtx with only 1 level = no dpc at all
