Re: Alienware laptops and their respective ODMs
this really begs to question why are we spending so much money on those computers when their value is umm 1/2 to 3/4 selling price... jw

Re: Alienware laptops and their respective ODMs
Personal preference. Lots of places use many of the ODM models listed above. It eventually all comes down to the reseller themselves, is their services and customization worth it? Some would say yes, some would say no. I also like to point out that in some cases, such as the Uniwill 259EN3, it seems only AW has WSXGA and WUXGA screen options in the US, while other American resellers only have WXGA. (this is not the case in Europe or Asia)

Re: Alienware laptops and their respective ODMs
yes true... 6 months from now if you loose your screen (like me) youll find AW dosent stock those sooo why not just get that screen yourself in first place, especialy since AW overcharges for that component?

Re: Alienware laptops and their respective ODMs
editted to include the Alienware Sentia 3400! As for stocks, yes that's another thing where you'll have to consider which reseller to go for. From a reseller themself.. some ODMs such as Uniwill and Quanta, stop making spare parts, etc after the model line has ended.. so to those who bought those models and need spares, will need to depend on how much the reseller stocked up on these parts. Others ODMs like Clevo, still make them even when a model has reached EOL.

Re: Alienware laptops and their respective ODMs
No its not false a person here in this forum needed a screen replaced. they said they no longer had that screen in stock and couldnt help them out. they told him to get it done somewhere else which he did then they preceded to void their warranty. im not saying it happens to every single person but i have heard of this more than once from them.
and dukefrukem are you like an alienware fan club member or something. im glad you had good luck which might not be the case if you need something major replaced. But many people have bad stories so just because yours turned out well doesnt mean you are going to call the other people liars.Last edited by SRD; 8th February 2006 at 01:25 PM.

Re: Alienware laptops and their respective ODMs
I have a Sentia 244, does anyone know who actually made it? And how I could contact them? Unlike many I have heard of mine works for the most part, but the battery doesn't fuction (not dead, just doesn't work), and Alienware is of no help (big shock).
