[GUIDE] M9750 HotKey Utility here
Well ok, I got tired of the lack of a tool to help configure the Hot Keys at the top of the keyboard. So I spent about an hour and wrote my own. Here it is:
EDIT: Now attached
It is nothing special and I wrote it very very quickly. I've tested it in Vista with Alienware's latest driver installed. I just found out that XP uses a completely different way to hook these buttons, so this will NOT work for XP (At this time).
You will need to have Microsoft .NET 2.0 installed, which I think is installed by default in Vista.
Just unzip the file and run "HotKeyConfig.exe". The rest is easy. If you have trouble saving, Right click on the exe and choose "Run as Administrator".
Let me know what you think.Last edited by eightd; 30th April 2008 at 08:31 AM. Reason: Attached Zip file

Re: M9750 HotKey Utility here
Thanks for the post. I tried it out since the only FingerTouch key I could reprogram was the web browser key. Now, with your app. I was able to reconfigure the Music key to WinAmp.
However, I am still not able to reconfigure my email browser. Even though I have set my preferred email app as the default and set it as the default in your app., the hotkey continues to bring up Windows Mail. There is no way I can find to make Windows Mail not the default email client. So I have two default email apps and Windows Mail wins out. I have tried deselecting Windows Mail in the Default Programs tool in Control Panel. Do you know of any way to remove Windows Mail as the default email browser?

Re: M9750 HotKey Utility here
I'm not sure I understand why thats happening. Make sure you reboot after you assign the new program. Other than that I would disable access to Windows Mail using the default program tool, Set program access and computer defaults. It this tool there is a checkbox next to the email client, try unchecking it.
You might also want to also disable "default email client checking" in window mail.

Re: M9750 HotKey Utility here
I tried unchecking that check box to no avail. It's no big deal-I can live with this minor inconvenience. It's just odd that there is no way to remove Windows Mail as the default client either in the app itself or in the Default Programs panel.

Re: M9750 HotKey Utility here
Bad new for XP users. The TSR app that Alienware installs on XP machines only launches the default assigned application and is not configurable. Aside of changing your default apps.
IF, I repeat, IF I get some free time I'll write a replacement for FKC.Alienware M9750 - Vista, 2.16GHz, 7950 GTX, 2.5 GB Ram (2x2GB), 2x250GB 7200 SATA
