SSD questions poor write speeds?
Ok check the pic.. stupid high read speeds for a single drive but low overall write speeds? I did a fresh install of windows 7 and my write speeds dropped..
any ideas..

Re: SSD questions poor write speeds?
Go into Speccy and see what HDD brands you have, if you want a portable copy so it doesn't install itself, go here: Speccy - Builds.
I will post my results which are using a Samsung 256 GB SSD.Last edited by Annie the Eagle; 22nd August 2012 at 08:20 PM. Reason: Derp

My results.
My read speeds are lower but my writes are faster. Seems weird.~ Annie the Eagle ~

Re: SSD questions poor write speeds?
The problem is the new Intel drives use Sandforce controllers, so with incompressible data their performance is not so great. With compressible data they normally do well, but incompressible data is what most people need fast read/write speeds for more than compressible data. That's a hallmark trait of Sandforce-based SSD drives. Your numbers are similar, if not a little better, than the Agility 3 depending on file size. And, it appears your results are in line with their expected performance. Overall, I don't your number represent poor performance.
Have a look in this thread for more examples and SSD performance questions: HOW TO: SATA III-SSD-RAID0-Windows Installation: Questions, Troubleshooting Thread

Re: SSD questions poor write speeds?
I had similar issues when I installed my Intel 520 Series 180GB into my M17........someone suggested using AS-SSD (I think that was the name) to format the SSD and straighten it up and that worked wonders. My speeds increased and balanced out nicely.

SSD Performance
You can find before and after speeds there. It was the Paragon Alignment Tool that I bought and used that solved my issue.
Hope that helps.M17x-R3 2920 / 680m / 12GB 1600 / Intel 520 180GB SSD / 750GB 7.2k / 1080p

Have I tried secure wipe with Linux os? Or pmagic bootable USB? It tends to restore performance.
