I havn't used my external keyboard for a few weeks, i've plugged it in and booted my laptop, now it beeps like anything constantly from the bios, then it has a window load problem, before i new it was the keyboard that was causing the issue, I have restored my windows from a pervious working verison, removed all attached periphials, i've even pluged in a usb hard drive that require to usb cable into the same usb plugs (usb 3 side) have tried keyboard on usb 2 said all the same
keyboard in question is a Razer lycosa
any ideas ?
okies a little further fault finding, if i plug in usb port that connects to the usb output on the keyboard no issue
i can even plug my mouse in (deathadder) and no boot issue, this is just an issue with the keyboard, if i let the computer boot and then plug in the keyboard no issue either

Re: mx18 r1 boot problems with keyboard
Which USB port(s) have you tried? Sometimes using a different USB port can resolve this sort of thing, but this is a known issue with some HID peripherals (i.e. keyboard and mouse) that have any kind of onboard memory for programming. The system attempts to boot from them, LOL.

Re: mx18 r1 boot problems with keyboard
Yeahh yeah 7970m can hijack any thread XD
Well back to topic, you can try to reset bios, i mean just set bios to it default settins by pressin F9 while ur in bios window. its silly advice but you can disable USB bootin option. If systemin try to boot from onboard keyboard memory then you can check by manually boot from HDD, As press F12 at alienware boot logo, then manually select HDD(drive that contain windows files) press enter.Alienware M18x R2

Mr Fox. of up u put the keyboard in after it passes the Alienware boot window it's fine, or if u wait till windows logon is there there isn't a problem
Peter,
I did think to do this, but as the hdd is the first boot device i didn't think it would cause a problem, i'll try that now!
tryied the bois setting no luck, still the same, removed it from my laptop, tried it on my xps desktop caused the exact same issue, Issue is withing the keyboard, will contact Razer regarding this and see what they can do!
