Re: Intel® Virtualization Technology stabilizes/improves FPS in Diablo 3?
Unless I am mistaken "Intel Virtulization Technology" is designed for enhancing virtual machine usage and allows the virtual machine to access to real hardware. I would be surprised to learn it affects the normal operation of Windows in a favorable manner. I don't know how or why that would relate to vsync in video games, but I might be missing something.
Where are the CPU and GPU virtualization OFF/ON settings that you are referring to? I'd like to play with the settings. I don't remember seeing separate setting for this in the BIOS.Alienware M18x R1 v2.0 | Intel Core i7 3920XM @ 4.8GHz | NVIDIA GTX 680M SLI

Re: Intel® Virtualization Technology stabilizes/improves FPS in Diablo 3?
There are no separate virtulization function in bios for CPU/GPU, nor have i stated anywhere that there is.
There is ONE option in bios: intel virtulization technology on/off.
The results are temperatures for both CPU/GPU with virtulization turned on and virtulization turned off.
Try reading my post again, maybe you misread something.

OK, I'm sorry about that. I did misunderstand what you are saying. I thought maybe I had overlooked the settings somewhere. I had already rebooted and went looking for them, LOL.

Re: Intel® Virtualization Technology stabilizes/improves FPS in Diablo 3?
I do not see any such behavior on my R2.
The only thing that turning virtualization on for me is that it allows me to run 64-bit OSes in VMware. With the option set to off, VMware refuses to run 64-bit code. All my games, including D3, fly with or without virtualization enabled.
I'm reasonably certain the differences in performance that you are seeing are purely coincidental; virtualization isn't a processor performance option and its unlikely Blizzard writes any code that benefits from the technology since it essentially has zero benefit to gamers and end users.
That being said, if you are unsure of what virtualization does, then it doesn't matter what setting you have in the BIOS for virtualization it doesn't affect gaming.
Fair warning though! If you require virtualization for your work, you'll notice some low-end "i7" processors are missing VT-D and vPro (I'm staring at you 2630qm and 3610qm). "i7s"...haha

Re: Intel® Virtualization Technology stabilizes/improves FPS in Diablo 3?
You have not tested it enough then.
I dont understand why it decreases my temps and stabilizes my FPS in Diablo 3, but it does!
I tried again this morning, and exactly same results as posted on page 1.
Could this be because i installed my normal windows with virtulization off?
