    Default Alienware M18x R2

It looks like Alienware m18x R2 is coming up starting today?!

Most of the sites are down, changes probably for m14x, m17x & m18x.

Only on UK site some sign of changes

That was quick and nobody was expecting it... No Ivy Bridge though?!

I just placed an order about a week back for the m18x R1 and saved about $700.00. It comes with ATi CrossfireX and bluray player. I do not know if I should cancel it and place a new order. It is hard to tell if 675m (dual) will make a big difference.

And second, will the system be changed drastically or only they focused on the hardware*... Hard to tell, unless someone has the system in his hands

The 675M is a rebranded 580M, your call to decide wether or not is worth it. But looking at the configurators the 'new' models seem to be refreshed current systems not new Releases, at least in the case of the M17x and M18x. I might be really wrong though.

Total disaster, lol. Compared to those "changes" my M18x has more reason to be called a "refresh". At least it's got an anti-glare screen and custom glowing logo, haha

Intel, AMD and NVIDIA really are not bringing new technology that's worth any extra money as I see it. The existing M17x R3 and M18x will perform at or near the same level with existing processor and chipset structures. Rather than calling it a total disaster, I would call it a "disappointment to some folks" and "pointless to upgrade" at this time. I'm just as happy as a clam with what I've got in my "legacy" M18x LOL.

Awww, do I have to start calling mine a legacy already?

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but I noticed on the configurator that they now give you the option of having it configured with three hard drives. If you configure it that way, and you then go to the optical drive portion, you can still select a optical drive? Did they add a extra bay somewhere?

So does this mean ivy bridge is compatible when it drops? And also on dell.ca there charging like $300 to do the overclock on the XMs lol But the 675s are much more affordable for us Canucks finally

Might as well wait until the Ivy Bridge NDA is up next week, so you can order with those in the configurator.
