@shadowyani - agree... has been my experience as well. Not a matter of if, but when, resuming from S3 presents issues. Some systems (even two identical system) work fine most of the time and others seldom behave.

@shaden - have you been running the same driver installation for a good while? It may be some sort of corruption with a driver file. That would seem too obvious and sometimes we miss the things under our noses. If it has been a while, might do a clean driver install and if that does not work, a clean OS install. If you go the clean OS install, go a few days with nothing but the bare essentials installed. If the problem is gone and you methodically begin installing all of your utilities and apps, you might be able to identify the source of the problem, and it might be something you would never expect.

Ok bumping this again because Dell Bill was inquiring about the issue as I continue to have it ....

Can some other people run some tests ... sleep your lappie and leave it for a while then try opening the lid and seeing what happens ???
6990s and 580s both trying would be nice...

    thx all

Shaden - I re-enabled the ability for my M18x to go to sleep and found no issues. I did not test it by using the Start menu, or the FN+F1 macro... just using the lid. I left it in sleep mode for about 15 minutes and when I opened the lid everything seemed to be working fine. Display brightness also works after waking from sleep.

I also have no problems with sleep. I've closed the lid and enabled sleep from the start menu. All is well.

    Aeight thats 2.... both 580s.

Although sometimes mine works too ... but usually it doesn't last long, a real test would require multiple sleeps and attempts to restart, and yes I use the lid method as well.

Maybe you guys could turn sleep when lid closed on and try it out for a couple days ??? see where we get ? Need some 6990s to try it as well.

Shaden - I know that skygunner27 uses sleep on his M18x all the time without any issues. It apppears that littleone562 and johnksss are having no problems with it.

I never use sleep and completely disable that functionality (as well as hibernation) on all of my systems as part of my normal setup routine. I guess maybe it's an OCD thing, but I just hate it, LOL.

If more forum members don't step up and you want me to do several days of testing for you, I would be glad to do that. Send me a PM and I'll jump in for you, bro. You might want to ask steviejones133 how things are working with sleep on his AMD-powered M18x.

Happened to me with 580m. Can you all check when you resume from sleep and get a black screen. Press Numlock and see if light on kbrd turns on and off. Mine doesn't so I assume it has locked up and hard reset is in order.
