Battlefield 3 on M18x - Discussion Thread

I turned off something with ultra settings and it averages around 80

There were times it averaged around 30 and it was due to overheating and thermal shutdown.

Rebooted and back to normal.

I've tested lowest setting , the fps is beyond 100+ but sometimes it reduced below 20 and lags comes , then it goes back to 100+

I don't have over heat issue , max temp are 75+ for me(repasted yesterday)
but still have issue with fps reduced to extremely low...

You shouldnt have to play with low settings period

That's a good suggestion. If everything works well in Vantage or 3DMark 11 (or other games) then it's a BF3 problem and not a hardware problem.

Generally, you would see some manifestation of problems besides a drop in framerate with a hardware problem.

Nice avatar!! I really like it's subtleness. Nvidia is really stirring things up lately with great GPU's on DTR, desktop and on Android tablets with the new Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC arriving this month.

@iPhantomhives - did you have a chance to check other games or benchmarks to determine if you are having a BF3 problem or a system-wide issue?

I'm starting to get carried away a bit. I love the green LED colors coordinated with my new desktop theme. Feels like St. Patty's day, LOL.

AMD Radeon HD 6970M / 6990M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P8324 3DMarks

I just format my m18x , I gonna test with those amd drivers again.

I notice , my bf3's memory usage around 2,000,000 is that normal?

Only 3dmark I have is 06 and I get around 24-25k.

If your score is on par with other system owners here, its probably not the hardware.

what do you get with out messing with the tessellation settings.. you know...like leave it set at application controlled?
