Default Pulled the trigger and picked one up

I've been eyeing up one of these bad boys since they came out though I'm still very happy with my M17x R2 but man I can't wait till I got this. I've been scouting out the Dell Outlet and found this one. I got it for 1,615 with a i7 2630, 6gb of ram, and SLI 460M's. I know the graphics cards are definatly the bottleneck of my system but it was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. I'll eventually upgrade but what I was really wondering is if there is anyone else out there running 460m's in their M18x and what gaming peformance would be like. I know it might not compare to my M17x but I'll upgrade when it becomes cheaper. How much are 6970ms or 6990ms anyway? Do you guys think I got a good deal?

Its a good deal bro. The investment is on the base chassis, FHD screen, screen size and the upgrade-ability for the future.

Don't even think of the 6970/6990s, aim for the 7000Ms, you can play every game out there on full eye candy just might need to ease of on the high AA settings a bit.

I tend to agree. The 460's are very simliar to the 5870s you currently have. Sure your screen is much better. However you quickly get used to this one and the extra real estate is nice ( have had both). The chassis is great and 7 series should work. The biggest draw probably is the fact that you can run a 330PS in this system and not in the R2 (to my knowledge). That will allow you to CF/SLI whatever you want this round or next. Congrats. I am running 6970's in CF and there IS a difference between the 5870s I previously ran but nothing major. I noticed the RGB more than I do the performance. However in Crysis/Warhead/Crysis2/Metro2033...it is a noticable difference.

Also, when you put the 2 of them together, the m18x is a much nicer looking system. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but...it is a nice evolution. The front vents are way more pronounced (look like a lambo) and the FX lighting is very very well done in the vents.
